Question Can I use my PC as a bluetooth headset?

    Hi All,
    I've a W700i and a bluetooth dongle for PC.
Is there any way that I can make and receive mobile calls in the PC with bluetooth?

What I mean is that I can use the PC's soundcard to talk and the mobile transmitting the signal via bluetooth? In effect, I'm wondering if I can use the PC as a wireless bluetooth headset, using the bluetooth dongle and some software!
    -----------------------
Alright, I tried out something and got to some point, but not to the intended point :(
    Here's where I am:
    • Uninstalled the original Bluesoleil 1.x from the system
    • Downloaded the latest Widcomm Drivers from Broadcom site
    • Installed it, got a patch for it from another forum (perhaps gsm forum), patched the widcomm driver successfully. But still no luck! It simply refuses to detect my ISSC dongle.
    • So I uninstalled it as well.
    • Then got hold of Bluesoleil 5.0.5 from another place and installed it.
    • This one gives some services like Bluetooth PAN, File transfer, object push, Advanced Audio and Serial Port services.
    • Reading the documentation, it seems the Bluetooth Advanced Audio service might be the one I need to achieve what I opened this thread for...
    • But alas, as soon as i hooked up my SE W700i phone, the bitter truth hit me again.
    • It seems the only services supported by this phone are Object Push and File transfer

But I'm wondering... Is it really a limitation of the phone?
Or does the phone's services get affected by the bluetooth stack in the PC in anyway?

Can someone please throw some technical light on this? Is it somehow possible to get the Advanced Audio (or handsfree gateway) service enabled for W700i?

    Hallo.

I have trust BT dongle, Broadcom WIDCOMM ver. 4.0.1.2900 driver, SE W600i and no problem with using my NB as HF Voice Gateway.

Are you sure, you have Headset service in your BT configuration on PC enabled?

OK, well I don't really see a "Headset service" in the BT configuration, but there's one "Advanced Audio Service" which seems close...
But ofcourse, as per this link, I guess there should also be another service called HSP or HFP, which is not at all shown in my BT configuration...:(

Does the services shown depend upon the dongle hardware?
Mine is an ISSC Class 1 BT dongle... Any idea?

Oops that's quite a disappointing answer!
Well alap1983, could you be kind enough to give little light on what did you try?

As of now, this link still gives me some hope...
I tried it out once again, and succeeded in atleast getting an audio HF gateway service with the BT stack...

Moreover, I got my mobile to recognize the PC as a headset...

Now only thing left is to actually test it out practically... What say?

Believe me, it works for me :) Even if I do not think it is much practical, but it really works on my hardware.

The name of the service on my WXP is "My Headset" in my services on PC and
"HS Voice Gateway on W600i" in "My Bluetooth Places\Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood\W600i" - my phone in BT stack.

For A2DP (bluetooth stereo) to work you need a dongle with at least 1.2 (preferably 2.0) specification. Ordinary handsfree profile is supported in all versions. Depends on bluetooth stack also. You may try latest by Widcomm. If only your hardware is supported by it. You may try to find btwinitialupgrade file. It will connect you to Widcomm site and download the latest software for you. In case if your dongle is supported of course.

i've used bluesoil 2.x - all those support the handsfree profile, but the phone cannot connect to it and use it as a headset. try disabling all the other services *except* the A2DP and ordinary headset ones, and see if that works.

i can use both the A2DP and headset services with my bluetooth headset on the computer - i use that in games and it works fine, just my phone dosen't want to.
