I am a super-newbie.
Please let me make a pre-apology if I'm posting this in the wrong forum.
(I really have been searching on this subject, I'm not lazy...)
I have been reading for days/hours and I seem to be getting more lost than gaining any help.
Here is my Issue:
My Phone Model: SE C905a (USA/AT&T)
PC System: XP Pro/SP2
- I have been using this phone for about 2 years/maybe less with no issues.
All of the sudden, the [Menu] button stopped working, and now I notice that the[*] star won't work either.
Now from reading around I learned that updating my phones software through the Update Service software should fix this, however when I hold my [C] button while connecting the phone via USB cable, in the system tray it says FOUND NEW HARDWARE - SEMC Flash Device.
But it just sits there and never does anything else. (except after about 30 seconds or so the phone auto starts up) - But I just keep holding the C Button and cant do anything else, the system seems to freeze-up.
(I have not tried XP-SP3 yet, but I don't think that's going to fix this)
Now I am guessing that it's not getting past the part where Windows is trying to install the drivers for the "SEMC Flash Device" since that in the system tray never changes (just freezes).
So this is where I am lost and confused.
-I cannot get into the phone's Menu because the Menu button won't respond when pressed.
So I can only use the update software on the PC
-Can I /How do I manually install the "SEMC Flash Device" drivers myself to at least get past this point?
- Or .. In Your opinion's, WHAT SHOULD I DO TO TRY AND FIX THIS ISSUE ALL TOGETHER?
thanks so much.
