I thought I'd share my highly annoying experience with a J2ME application called Microsoft Tag. It comes in many software formats. One is J2ME which I thought would be very cool to have with my phone.

After loading it, I had no problems with it reading the tags made for the software. However, I found I couldn't use my camera! I slid down the lens cover, and nothing happened. I went to the menu and activated the camera software. It reported I should open the lens cover. NOTHING! I took canned air and blew out all the points on the lens cover (half open, fully open, half down with the lower part depressed down,etc). Still no go on the camera. I re-activated MS Tag and I was able to scan the printed out tag. It appears the software disabled or hi-jack the hardware to the camera. I can't prove it.

I reflashed the firmware (main, fs, and customization). At first the camera didn't work. Even the data port was acting funky. So I went out to Omnius server and checked the memory for errors. It said it found two errors. The camera still didn't work. Next I went back to Omnius and cleared the customization status. FINALLY my camera started to work.

Perhaps other people's experiences are different. But I thought I'd share my own experience with everyone. Comments are always welcome.
