    GDFS backup on W580i

    Hello!

Im quite new to mobile flashing etc, but i decided to try and flash my phone (w580i).

I read some tutorials and forums, and most of them said that a backup of GDFS was highly reccomended, so i used this tutorial
    HTML Code:
    http://www.akshayy.com/sonyericsson/tutorials/gdfs-backup/
to use XS++ 3.1 and backup GDFS.

Firstly i installed the usb drivers that were neccesery, then i downloaded XS++ 3.1 and followed the tutorial:

Shutdown phone pick out battery & put it back etc,

Started XS++ Pressed connect, held down "c", plugged in the usb and it worked fine.

But when i pressed the "backup GDFS" I got this message
Posting full log so you'll see

    Thanks for the fast reply!

It seems that i'm able to patch CID 53 using
    HTML Code:
    http://www.topsony.com/forum/far-manager-f31/patching-cid53-db2020-amp-db2010-2012-a-t16507.html
    is it worth it?

It seems like it's quite complicated imho :)
And what advantages does it give?

Wrong! You can backup CID53 DB2020 GDFS for free, with kkclient. But you have to pay in order to write it back.

    Okay, ty!

I guess you get alot of threads about flashing w580i phones with CID 53, but i would like to ask some questions anyways because i couldnt really find someone explaining this,

    Ive found out that

    HTML Code:
    http://www.topsony.com/forum/far-manager-f31/flash-k800-cid53-k810-software-cid53-begginers-t11605.html#post89845
tutorial can be used to flash the W580i with the right firmware customization etc.

And with the right "things" is it possible to follow the tutorial exactly without furthermore exceptions?

But how do i know which ones are the right? Shall i use the ones similar to what im using right now on my unflashed phone.

    Then, there is another thread

    HTML Code:
    http://www.topsony.com/forum/far-manager-f31/patching-cid53-db2020-amp-db2010-2012-a-t16507.html
Which one should I use for max failproofness?

    Thanks in advance!

Both the two have their own ways. The first one is only for flashing and the later one is for patching.

    Re: GDFS backup on W580i

If you want to patch it, you must first have one of this two MAINS in your phone:
    R8BA024_GENERIC_LA, or R8BE001_GENERIC_LA.
    Since you have :
    W580_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED53 and
W580_R8BE001_FS_EUROPE_4_RED53, you can skip flashing procedure.
Patches can do many usefull things to your phone:
