Unlocked 2 x W850i Brilliant!

You can tell from my username that I'm not a young techno-wiz.

My grandaughter really wanted a W850i, to replace one that was stolen, but couldn't afford to buy one. My wife's steam powered Nokia's battery died so she needed something done, so I got 2 x W850i from fleabay. One was locked to T-Mobile, the other to Orange, but I wanted to use them on O2.

I didn't want to pay for a shop to unlock them as the last time I'd wanted a device unlocked - an Orange SPV M700 PDA - the only local unlocker had said it could only be unlocked by Orange, who wanted £s and a week. In the end, just before I stamped on it, I flashed it myself to WM 6.5 and unlocked it via info on xda-developers tho' I'm not too sure how!

So, I'm a huge fan of technical forums whether for bikes, cars, or gadgets. I was very pleased to find this website and Ultimate Unlocker. I did the Orange without any sweat, but the T-Mobile phone seemed more resistant but is now unlocked. It didn't seem to want to connect to the unlocker but did in the end.

I've now kept one of the SEs to use as a work phone as it's too sophisticated for my missus (so I've given her my 'basic' Nokia so she's OK) and my grandaughter will be happy as Larry having an 850i again.

Thank goodness for the interweb and sites like this. Even old men can use them!
