SEFSTool4 hangs while extracting DB2020 raw file

Hello everybody,

I spent the last 4 hours looking for a solution to my problem in different forums.
As a last resort I post this message to you and hope somebody is able to help me.

I want to add the German language to a W580i which is running
W580_R8BE001_MAIN_CHINA_LA_RED52
W580_R8BE001_FS_APAC_RED52

I can browse the filesystem on the phone with FAR Manager an the SEFP Plugin but I can only upload files (if I download one it will be 0k) I think this behaviour is normal for DB2020 phones. The filesystem seem to be write-only. For this reason I cannot make the necessary changes to the config files (compare how to add languages to your phone - Top Sony Forums) to enable the language.
I can only upload whole files.

My plan is to extract the German language files from
W580_R8BE001_FS_EUROPE_5_RED52
tpa/preset/system/language

then upload them to the phone

then as the next step to "modify" the configuration files
tpa/preset/system/language/allowed_language.txt and
tpa/preset/custom/customize.xml
I need to extract the files either from the phone (which doesn work with my FAR SEFP Setup) or from the firmware file
W580_R8BE001_FS_APAC_RED52

once I have the files I should be able to modify them and upload them via FAR SEFP


I am stuck now for hours trying to extract
W580_R8BE001_FS_APAC_RED52 with main2raw/babe2raw and sefstool4.

My System: Windows Vista (already tried compatibilty mode for XP SP2)
Also triede main2raw v2.1 --- Same problem

Any Help or workaround suggestions are greatly appreciated !!!!
If somebody would even extract the mentioned files for me on their machine... i'll buy you a beer! :-)

Hello everybody,

I finally got it working with the files riders4sia provided. Thanks a lot riders !

However at first there was exactly the same problem. What did the trick is to use
babe2raw and SEFStool4 with a SHORT FILENAME

europe.fbn for example failed with the same output as above but
europ.fbn worked !

I guess the reason is that SEFStool4 first produces a *.raw.fs file from the *.raw file.
And that this file must not have a name longer than the 12 FAT16 characters.

europe.raw.fs 13 chars => fails
europ.raw.fs 12 chars => ok

I hope that helps if somebody else has got the problem !
