Need Help Z550 or W300

Right now i have a w300, i really love it but because i had some problems with the clamshell (sometimes the phone doesnt sound until i move the clamshell), so im thinking of change it for a z550 so i was looking for advices, it is a good change, does the clamshell have the problems i mentioned before or its strong as the z520?? whch one would you choose??

OK! I have had a Z550 but sold it and came to a w300! Why??

First of all: battery! It did not last for more than 2 days whatever i did!
Second: it is a nice phone when you open the clamshell but rather ugly with it closed.
Third: the gray part (from your picture) is from aluminium which made me go mad during winter time when i could feel all the cold in my pants. ;))
Fourth: Out of the box it comes with just the handsfree and the charger. No data cable no nothing else.
Fifth: i do not care for the camera but you might want to know that the pictures it took were awfull. I preffer my canon :D


All in all i can say that i would have kept it if it would have had a 900+ mAh battery and other exterior design. I`d go for a z610 instead of z550 :)

And about w300, i like it, but 2 weeks after buying it i had to send it back to service :( I was said that it was because of the software that the have installed on it (orange romania installes custom software on ost phones :( ) All i can say is that o love the battery but i miss the 220x178 LCD from z550 :D

Oh... and the clamshell... i remember that it had some bugs... sometimes whenever i closed the flip it had some errors with the leds... moreover when i was unpluging the data cable it used to flicker strangely... :) All in all is a grade 7 phone :) (i have not yet found the grade 10 phone :) )

Ok, i decided and got the z550, so far so good, because i gave the w300 to my mother i still have the data cable, and the w300 earbuds :D, the sound its perfect for me, the clamshell its stronger than the one on the w300 so i dont thik it would start to get the problem i got with my old w300, as i live in a troplical country the cold aluminium on winter doesnt mather to me :p and i just love the looks of this phone....

I got another question, can i use the battery from the w300 on this phone??? or can it damage it???

No! You cannot use it!

z550 works with BST-33 (i believe) whici is a good battery if used on the j300 :D (up to 10 days) However, z550 needs more energy so that small battery will keep the phone alive a few days, depending on what you do. The only battery that is compatible with is BST-36(7) which comes with k750/w800... battery that is far better but... thiker. Thee phone will work with it but you won`t be able to close the case.

W300 works with another type of battery (i do not know the name as my phone is being serviced) wich is larger so it won`t fit!

I am sorry to say but you are stuck with a good battery, but good only for small phones :)

I haven't touched 1 of this phones yet. But i'd rather go for W300i since it is quadband and EDGE capability unlike the Z550i. W300i is also targeted to Walkman and sounds better than the Z550i. Only 1 advantage of Z550i is the size of it's main screen is 176x220 unlike the 128x160 of W300i. The camera of Z550i is better than W300i since the camera of W300i is also 1.3MP but interpolated. I'd go for W300i in terms of style and the 2nd display is bigger....
