    Smile K770i - mkrest2 and qamaker problems

    Greetings,

I am following the excellent video guide by AkShay.

Firstly I have both main files (.MBN):-
    • K770_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_VI_RED53
    • K770_R8BC004_MAIN_GENERIC_VI_RED52

and unsure what the difference is, the phone is locked to Vodafone and I assume would be the European edition (UK).

The mkrest.exe does NOT create another file, with no message echoed out to the screen.
I believe the restore file is'nt needed but curious why no file is created?

Also using qamaker, executing it pressing enter to close the dos screen and THEN draggin the MBN file it creates a "quick_access__.vkp" file.

The video file shows the .vkp file with the full name of the MBN file so wondering it its a file length issue or does this indicate there has been some sort of problem?

I know these are newbie questions but any help would be appreacited.

I switched off AVG since it intefered with the running of these files.

    Thanks
    Rob

CID should depend on your phone itself, if your phone is a CID53, then you should use the CID53 one and vice versa.
about mkrest.exe, rest file will be created in d:\documents and settings\user

Thanks for the very quick respone, can't believe I didnt spot the CID number in the filename. doh.

Used XS++ to get the appropriate version of the firmware files needed.

    Is Qamaker working ok?
The dos prompt output say a file has been created but the vid tutorial showed creation of the file with the MBN filename rather than the generic titled "quick_access__.vkp" file.

Quick note: Im using XP the vid tutorial is for Vista

    Thanks again.

Read here : Flash your phone and How to apply or remove patch using SETool 2 Lite - Top Sony Forums and post identify log. qamaker does work, if you didn't get the quick_access__.vkp, then look at what i told before "c:\documents and settings\user" too

    I've identified I needed the following firmware R8BC004 CID53.

    Downloaded the following firmware:-
    K770_R8BC004_MAIN_GENERIC_VI_RED53
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_11_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_2
    K770_R8BC004_FS_EUROPE_2_RED53.fbn

Indeed the restore file was in the dir you specified, however the filenames look corrupted for exampe pìÀ¦ (266KB in size) created without the proper extension too, only reconised as a file.

I know these to be the files as I ran mkrest2.exe manually from dos prompt and the file this time was created in the rest dir, again with the corrupt name and no extension.

Running qamaker.exe creates file quick_access__.vkp which can be read in notepad and looks normal.

The video tutorial showed the .vkp file being created with the R8BC004 in the title so was concearned.

So I guess the question is should I continue or is something funny going on??

You have to flash first R8BE001 firmware(MAIN and FS), because @the_laser made "executor.b" only for this firmware.

    Re: K770i - mkrest2 and qamaker problems

    Thanks for the advice :)

Downloaded these files from this site:-
    K770_R8BE001_FS_EUROPE_4_RED53.fbn
    K770_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_VI_RED53.mbn

Using mkrest2.exe why does it create the files with corrupt filenames like pÜÔ¦ and as a file rather than .rest

Im using the FAR Manager v1.70 (build 2087) and jdflasher by den_po version test6, 2008/06/09.

The qamaker made file quick_access__.vkp from K770_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_VI_RED53.mbn, is this filename ok?

    Re: K770i - mkrest2 and qamaker problems

Im using the qamaker in the dir on its own and NOT in the 2020_52 dir as Im doing a CID53 patch.

    Is this correct?

    Really frustrating me.
    Why doesn't mkrest2.exe work???
