    Firmware Flushing - Linux

I believe this is the write place to ask if somebody has done the same job but by making use only of linux tools. I know that the bash shell offers some excellent commands for manipulating bin files and the rest, but would be really glad to see a reply to this post from somebody who has gone through the hasle and done the job. Thanks

Umm..there's lack of software support for linux.I guess u'll have to rely on the winXP if u've to do flashing, unlocking, debranding & modding.I also hope for linux based flashing software.

    cell_freak,

I don't think that lack of software is the problem with using linux to flush say a mobile phone. Its just that there is so much to learn about it that I personally prefer to mess around with apache and the rest instead of spending a month trying to be first one to hack a sony ericsson w800 that is not guaranteed that will be still functional in the next 2 years. People in general are too cozy when following the norm and don't like being disturbed with tasks that are next to impossible. As soon as I get all the software needed to do it in windows and perform that flush successfully I might scribble down some hints.

I have not seen anyone flashed using Linux, I am quite sure it's possible but to find someone to write a software for this market is quite hard as there won't be alot of users for this software.

The problem is that you also need the drivers in addition to the flashing software.
So people would have to make Flashing softwares AND drivers for linux because SE doesn't care of linux users...

Doesn't work with Vista ? That's not normal ! SE and MS must ensure compatibility for their clients !

    htp,
i don't think you would need drivers to flush the firmware, the raws would take care of that, but it is the frontends like FS++ and FAR that are missing.
