The SE do have a firmware update which have solve the message lag problem, go and try, you can feel the different

lagging can also happen during ~2min after a restart while accessing memory stick, and I confirm almost all problems I've noticed before were solved after latest f/w update.

The camera lacks autofocus, but the walkman is great. Worth its price, i think :)

This phone is excellent! It's slim, nice to hold, OS is well thought out (I flashed mine with S500i theme and flash files ^^ - so it's perfect!). Looks very eye pleasing.. far from a "plastic" feel like other phones. The lights always catch other people's attention... but that could be a good / bad thing.

Shaking thing for walkman = v.cool..... you can press and hold the walkman button whilst the keypad is locked and shake it in your pocket to change songs. I did this in the supermarket however and someone gave me a funny look but it saved me from pulling the phone out, unlocking it, switching to walkman menu and pressing next song.

Buttons seem fine! Do not look like they are going to break. However the middle circular joypad thing squeeks on my a little as I push down (maybe not on yours?).

Vibration as you select a menu element = nice little luxury available (depending on theme).

Only phone I would recommend other than this in SE range is the soon to come W910i and that is if you can cope with its wideness.

I prefer S500 that flashed into W580, coz it's a fashion phone. I like the design, although maybe there is some bugs.

I think that w850i doesnt need autofocus... ive taken two pics with k800(with autofocus) and w850i and the pics are very similiar, almost no changes, besides i bought my phone cuz i listen to music all the time so i dont realy need the autofocus...:D

i bought myself a new W850i. Its my first sony ericsson handphone. I like the beautiful white outfit of it which makes it classy. I would say this phone is overall quite not bad for me. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages i faced...

Advantages:
Nice camera resolution
Big screen!! (i have always like big screen phones)
Easy-organizable files
Can use video as contact ringtone
Walkman function
Audio quality good and LOUD!! =)
It doesn't have a joysticks (joysticks are always non-durable)
Charging takes only a little while (i dono why..)

I also particularly like the "mark" function where i can mark several or all files when doing transferring or deleting. This function is not available in samsungs i know...

Disadvantages:
Lagging (its a little bit lagging compared to samsungs... probably samsungs have less complicated functions)
Keypads are a little bit difficult to press

I couldnt comment on its 3G functions since my country hasnt really fully-developed this technology... its coming though...

Overall, a good phone... recommendable considering also its price!!

Well for the charging,you can try to reduce the brightness of the phone:)
