Last post on this : FINALLY learnt that Vodafone has an additional setting somewhere in their system that indicates whether you are able to access internet or not. After my last efforts I was able to browse the Vodafone Live site and pages but got my original "Access denied" message as soon as I tried to visit a site not in the Vodafone 'sphere'.
Now I've only had the phone for about 3 weeks and am certain that I've used internet since I've had it - so my not being able to access internet ( see post above ) definately began around the time that I started farting around with the phone - Could be coincidence or something new in their system ???
Anyway, Have now successfully debranded ( CDA method ) and can access internet - Called Vodafone this morning who tweaked something on their system.
Have had quite a first trip into the world of phone debranding / unlocking / flashing though !
I have no idea why Vodafone ( and I'm sure others ) customize these phones like they do as the generic is faster, look and works better. Generic software is also 4 versions up from branded Vodafone. My impression is that Vodafone probably have a template that's a few years old that they just keep tailoring to phones as they appear.
Anyway - Happy now !
Cheers !
