    w880i with 850mhz

I've been searching the internets for days, and this seems like the best place to ask. I have a w880i which I would like to use with AT&T in the United States. But missing the 850 band, the phone doesn't work.

Can I flash the phone with another SE phone's firmware to get the 850? Is their a patch? Is it hardware and requires a mod? Or, is it just impossible?

    Thanks in advance.

Can with GDFS script, but only on CID52.

    Re: w880i with 850mhz

Alright, so I'm jumping through hoops trying to get this back to CID52 (might have to pay for it), so in the meantime, could anybody explain or point me into the direction of how to apply a patch or script that would allow the W880i to work on the 850Mhz band? I found a site that may be explaining it, but it's in Spanish.

    BTW, I found this:

FIRST, make the backup of your GDFS, then download the setool2lite 1.11
if you dont have setool 1.11 download here... 4shared.com - free file sharing and storage

Then open your notepad and write the folowing line...
    gdfswrite:000000AC12

then click "write script" and connect your phone holding "c" button...
this may take about 10 seconds, detach your phone and test...

    >*<<*<*
    Services info
    Configs...

    It may show GSM850 GSM900 GSM1800 GSM1900
    Is it that easy?

So far I've been able to patch, but now I'm getting no network coverage.

    Re: w880i with 850mhz

I assume you are sure that you have 850MHz service in your area?

If so, try setting the phone so that it just uses 850MHz

    gdfswrite:000000AC0B

And then see if you get a signal - I would suspect you won't, since the only phones I ever heard of this working on were some early production versions of the k790. If it doesn't work, then you can restore the original bandlock using

    gdfswrite:000000AC09

I would be interested to hear the result, anyway..

Yeah, I gave it a shot last night. Bascially, with AT&T, my only choice is the 850mhz band. I did every possible combination and cannot get a signal. It works great on T-Mobile, and some places with AT&T. But I'm going to stick with that the 'w880i can't be patched to work on the 850 mhz band'.
