Guidance/assistance required for W810i failed unlock

    Hi,

I've got a problem. I have a W810i. I called ATT for unlocking the phone and they said ok and gave to me. Cool.

So the person guides me to the location where I enter the long code. I enter it and the phone says wrong code. Over and over.

I had returned my original phone to warranty because of problem and they did not update system with new IMEI code with the replacement phone. So I gave the person at ATT the IMEI of the new phone their warranty sent me and the person gave me the unlock code. Problem is, the phone was by that time locked. :(

So now I have the code, but it doesn't work. :o

I don't know what to do. I tried xs++, don't think I could connect my pc to the phone.

I'm using the original cable that came with the unit. Sometimes I'm reading it's okay to use original cable, other times I read that you need to get the service cable.

Would someone be able to guide me in the right direction? My goal is to be able to unlock the phone for use in Europe.

    Thanks.

I finally found out. I installed the SEUS and had it install the usb drivers, after reformating. Then I ran XS++

It said my phone is CID49. It said EROM Color: Red.

Re: Guidance/assistance required for W810i failed unlock

I unlocked it. Thanks for you patience.

    Whole process went pretty smoothly.

I had access to a hd that I could reformat and try again, when installing the usb drivers. Having the phone be accessible by the computer software was the most difficult part. After the software can access the phone, it was easy.

I searched the forum for the usb driver and followed the steps, but it didn't work out when I tried to do it that way. The way it worked for me was to use the Sony Ericsson software updater (SESU) and have it install the usb drivers.

So after a failed attempt to install the usb drivers by hand, I reformated, and then installed the SESU and followed its directions to detect my phone. I went as far as for it to communicate with my phone, but to not update anything.

Once SESU communicated with my phone, then it was able to communicate with the tools, like xs++ and setool2, etc..

Then I followed the "Remove SIM-lock patch generator" link philzfog linked to.

There was also the thread "Flash your phone and How to apply or remove patch using SETool 2 Lite" . In this thread it had links to rapidshare to get the 1.10 and upgrade to 1.11 of setool2 lite, but those did not work.

The only link that worked was the last one which had the videos. So I got that and tried using it..... but it didn't work. The reason was in my face, but didn't take action on it. The folder name of the setool2 lite(with the videos inside) had db2020 in it.. my w810i is db2010..... maybe an issue?

That version of setool2 lite did not work for me and I couldn't backup my GDFS. I realized the db2020 thing and then searched at top sony download section and found the setool2 lite files there in the software section (version 1.10 and then the upgrade to 1.11). THEN once using those files, it worked. I was able to backup the GDFS and then continue on step by step with the thread "Remove SIM-lock patch generator".

After doing these steps I was able to use a sim card from another carrier in my phone. I didn't rebrand or add any other feature or stuff like that, just simply unlocking it and it worked. Thanks.
