Exclamation secm flash device disappears vanishes

I'm having a strange problem; doesn't seem to be a common problem at all. [edit: phone is k610i]

"SECM flash device" is installed and working in XP. In device manager the driver properties shows official drivers version 2.2.0.2, provided by SE Mobile Communications.

The problem I have is that "SECM flash device" will only appear for a random duration, between a few seconds and almost one minute, then will vanish.

This is not long enough for setool2 to finish patching the MAIN firmware, which I estimate would take several minutes to finish.

I have tried holding down "C" and not letting go, ever, and I have also tried letting go of the button as soon as flashing starts.

Nothing helps. The duration that SECM device lasts seems to be random.

The battery should be fully charged. I cannot start the phone now (broken firmware), but before I started the phone charge was full. The phone will not charge from the mains now either (red light for a few seconds, then red light switches off).

How do I stop SECM device from going away?

Does this sound like a faulty phone? Faulty flash unit?

    What do you think?

    [edit2: I mean SEMC, heh]

Turns out the battery was low. I was sure it was full battery when I started, I probably mis-read the indicator.

With full battery it flashes fine.

Now I have new problems ;)
