Need a little help: Debranding W760a

I read the sticky's, went through several pages of the forums to see if the question has been answered, and tried to generally read up and figure out the solution myself but I am still stuck.

I have AT&T and a W760a, I just learned about the dumb file size limit for using .mp3 files as ring tones and I want to debrand the phone so I can remove that restriction.

The first and most confusing part for me is I have no idea what firmware I am supposed to be looking for in the downloads section.

If I can just get a little guidance on what to be doing to select the correct firmware I think I can take it from there, and if not well I will post back :P

I should have the flash drivers installed already since I used the offical sony update tool and checked to see if my firmware was as new as possible.

As for the software used to do this manual flash, not so sure I read up on A2 tool and there is another one used for several phones but not sure if the W760 is part of them.

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

Re: Need a little help: Debranding W760a

Update: I think I have done it on my own but it was not cut & dry I had to look around in a few places so I want to share what I did for others incase they find themsevles in the same situation.

First of all not knowing what firmware I need to debrand the phone from our downloads section I just went from newest to oldest until I found one that said america on it.

I had one with and one without a VT in the name so I just got both of them and unzipped those files. I went to flash it using this guide: A2-DB3150 Flashing - Top Sony Forums

But there were no two files for me to put in (main & fs) the downloads from here were just a single file with a .fbn extension.

So back on the search I found this great tutorial: [Debrand] A2 (Db3150) Tutorial - Top Sony Forums

This is what I wanted to do just debrand the phone,

Folowing the instructions it lead me to this site to get a CDA code - A2 CDA File Generator

Now a new problem, looks like my phone was added in version 1.03 of that program. The online generator is based on version 1.02 so it did not have my phone.

I went to download version 1.03 to see if it would work and the file host no longer has the program for download due to some claim made on the file.

    Back on the search again....

I saw from this sites home page they have a list of CDA codes - Top Sony - CDA W760

looking through the list, I still did not see what I needed, and very similar to when I was looking for the firmware to download I was not sure wich one I was supposed to be looking for.

Back to google I found this thread - HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - de-branded w760 keeps on restarting

A guy there sujests the use of CDA Code 1201-0095 (American Generic) thats the code I need! (I think)

So I went back to the tutorial posted above and inserted that CDA code into my phone and then used the sony update software and it updated me to the Generic American software, all seems well so far!

My only qualm is that the shortcuts are different and there is no longer a "my stuff" menu icon or shortuct that I am used too.

So I need to transfer the theme I made on to the phone and a mp3 and see if it works as a ring tone.

I hope this helps somebody else, but at the same time I still want clarification on what firmware I would download to do this without the sony update method and how to flash those firmware for download onto the phone when its only a single file and not what the tutorial asks for (Main & FS)

Also the CDA I used 1201-0095 is not listed on the CDA listings page.
