how to change w580i from att to factory firmware

I'm completely lost with all the update stuff/etc on this site, basically my wife got a sony w580i phone from att and it has been crapped up with att's menu configuration. How do I get this phone back to sony factory specs? do I need new firmware or is it just a menu configuration somewhere I'm missing? Also if I do have to change to new firmware, is it already unlocked for att or do I need to do some additional steps to be able to use it with att?

u need to download generic firmware and flash it and finalize using the custom pack
the phone doesnt get unlocked by flashing
u need to have sim lock patch or just buy credits to unlock the phone

Ok.. Before I got this response, and really knew what I was doing, I began using jdflasher. I flashed the MAIN and FS files fine with no issue. But upon completing the flashing of those files, I had to run from the house for a bit. I never got to finilize the process with the custpaks or whatever. Im worried that someone may have tried to turn the phone on while I was away. Im not sure if / how this would affect the phone. When I went to try and complete the process, and sometimes jdflasher doesnt recognize the phone unless i re-connect it a few times. The usb is still recognized and makes it little pop up noise, blah blah. The phone shows no activity. Is this what we consider bricked? Ive modded many of high end phones such as iphones, gphones, and HTC Tilts. But of course, everything is different, and complicated. I dont much care about the phone because it is not my daily user. But will still enjoy educating myself in this process. I know that with the iphones you can completly restore and start from scratch, and have a good feeling SE's are not the same way.

Also, on the JDflasher ver. that I have the flasher isnt under menu option 4 after pressing alt +f1. The flasher is listed under 0

Check the battry if u have flashed the main and fs it should still turn on
