Question [SOLVED] total noob here, really need help with patches, please

first off im really new to this stuff, i understand the basic terms and stuff but somethings i may not understand, sorry if this causes anyone any frustrations and go easy on me please, im just getting used to these things...

ok, so i see all of these patches that are long lists of numbers and things but at the top they have instructions telling you to put files in certain places, those i understand but not the long lists of numbers.
then when i read tutorials on how to use patches on SeTool2 lite and Farmanager, etc it says i need to use a .vkp file.

how do i get all those codes into a .vkp file?
i am trying to put this patch on my phone:

    ;W580 SW-R8BE001
    ;Sounds in the opening-closing slider.
;In tpa / preset / system / sound
    ;Put files slideropen.mp3 and sliderclose.mp3
    ;The condition "without sound."
    ;V 1.3
    ;Popravlena work in processing isAudioPlayerBook
    ;(C) John North
    ;(E) HierOS (correct mismatch)

so like here i understand that i have to put some .mp3 files in certain directories but i have no idea what all the 45c00950: 000000... stuff is. im pretty sure i need it to get the patch to work but i dont know how to use it.:(

could someone give me a quick guide or something on how i would go about putting that on my phone? or making it into a patch? please :)

thanks thanks thanks to anyone who can help in anyway:o

well lets start with the begining...before you put a patch we need to know if ur phone is CID53 or CID52 because there are different tuts for bouth of them...you can find out by connecting phone with XS++

and to make a patch out of all that u just copy eveyting paste it in notepad and the rename it with the extension .vkp

    hope it helps

Re: total noob here, really need help with patches, please

    ive got CID52

and i just rename it anything.vkp right?

so what is the difference between having CID52 and CID53?
does it just depend on what program you use or is there actually a different process?

    thanks

yes u rename everyting for example new document.txt to sliding sounds.vkp

the difference is that with the cid52 you can use programs like xs++ and setool to apply patches and all other stuff but wit the cid53 you have to use Far with jdflasher...cid53 is not supported by them programs...

    ok thanks

one other thing, do you know if there is a file for shutdown sounds?
i know there is one for startup and i found it in XS++ but there wasnt a shutdown sound file.
just wondered if you had to add one or if there is one in another folder or something

    thanks again

Re: total noob here, really need help with patches, please

lol yea thats what im wondering

ive changed the start up sound i just wasnt sure if there was a shutdown sound file because when i turn off my phone it does a little blip sound, same as when i turned it on before changing the sound file, and didnt know if there was a shutdown file to change or if i had to make one, etc.

if you cant its no big deal, just was wondering if you could

    thanks

EDIT: haha never mind, i took a gamble and named an mp3 file
SHUTDOWN_SOUND_SEMC and just put it in the same place as the startup sound
    and it worked :)
thanks for the help though :D
