    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    immun0 - i just successfully debranded a W760a *and* have it updated to the latest firmware with SEUS. In addition, I have also successfully rebranded it to what it was before.

    I'm newbie, and I have found (mis)information and (mis)instructions scattered all over the place, making *quality* debrand/rebrand very challenging.

    For debranding, picking the right combination of MAIN and FS and custom file is critical, otherwise you won't be able to update it with SEUS when future new firmware comes out before made available on a site like this, *if* at all. SE seems to be pretty good at updating firmwares (unlike Samsung which I have ditched).

    For rebranding, above procedure with SEUS does NOT work at all. My W760a's original CDA is 1212-6828, Rev. R3CC005. I had to download those particular MAIN/FS pair and ATT's custom file for rebrand.

    In summary, for debrand, I used a2uploader to change to a generic ("customized") CDA, then SEUS to update the firmware.

    For rebrand, I flashed everything with a2uploader.

    I have a ton of details but I'm too tired to type everything up right now. Ask and I'll reply. Cheers.

    I just got a 760a myself. Do I need custom files, or just the main and FS? And which files did you use? You just did it, so I assume you used the latest.

    Thanks for any detailed instructions you may give, i am a newb at this stuff. I have used Davinci before on different SE phones, but never A2 so far.

    Hi xyn19. Thank you so much for reply. I've spent many hours already trying to debrand without success. I hope that you can help me. Can you tell me what MAIN and FS did you use? I've made a subscription so I should be able to access the download section soon. Are you in USA too? I'm in California and don't know if region matters with file selection. Did you change the CDA according to the instructions of this post? I tried to drag and drop my customized xml to the tpa/preset/custom but it won't stick.... Any help would be great. Thanks.

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    Open this:
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <customization>
      <info>
        <cda-number>1201-0095</cda-number>
      </info>
    </customization>
    in notepad.
    Save it as "customize_upgrade.xml". Upload it to TPA/preset/custom. Update with SEUS. You should have the latest "generic america" firmware.

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    Hey I know what you're going through, can be frustrating. My W760a is also a US version. In my experiment, I used customized Hong Kong (1207-7195), because I wanted to see how it supports the various Chinese languages (it turned out surprisingly well, perfect in fact, another thread..). Depending on what languages you like, if it is just for the Americas, try the customized latin america(1208-4014)/southern cone(1207-5533) CDAs, it has cf,en,pb,xl languages. You can see the other CDAs from Top Sony Forums

    Here's an easier way (use a2uploader to write customize_upgrade.xml only, and use SEUS to flash), follow exactly, let me know if there's a problem:):
    1) get and install a2uploader and flash driver A2-DB3150 Flashing - Top Sony Forums, get and install SEUS from Sony Ericsson - Support - Software - W760a - Update Service
    2) create following customize_upgrade.xml on your PC with correct CDA
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <customization>
      <info>
        <cda-number>0000-0000</cda-number>
      </info>
    </customization>
    3) Connect USB cable to PC (not phone)
    4) Fully charge battery. Pull phone battery out, wait for 3+ seconds, put it back in
    5) Start a2uploader, click on FileSystem Tool
    6) Hold down "5" key on phone, then plug in USB cable
    7) Wait for a2uploader to display some info about your phone in the text box to the left, then release "5" key.
    8) In a2uploader, double click on tpa, preset, custom, to go to that folder
    9) Drag and drop your customize_upgrade.xml to the /tpa/preset/custom/ folder, you should see that file in there if copied correctly
    10) Click on FS Shutdown, or something like that
    11) Disconnect USB from phone (not necessarily from PC)
    12) Take phone battery out, wait for 3+ seconds, then put it back in
    13) Turn ON phone, wait until you reach phone's main screen. Turn it OFF.
    14) Start SEUS and follow the directions from there, long process, may take 20 min to a few hours, depending on your download speed. (require internet connection of course)
    15) Now you have the latest firmware from SE! and you can continue to use SEUS in the future!
    16) Enter settings for your service provider, and some necessary tweaks to make other things work (e.g. streaming ATT's video from http://home)

    Good luck. Post back questions and results, cheers. ;)

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    Please allow a very silly question... do I add the files before connecting the phone (holding c button) or after? I'm a newbie so pls don't start laughing at me :p

    Hm...I add the files...I press flash and then connect the phone holding c button...correct?

    Also...you say...
    6. After flashing shutdown phone, remove batery and insert it back.
    Should it be ON during flashing??

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    Thanks Xyn.

    So say for a USA type phone I could use your method to upload a self created "blank/generic" custom file, which will then trigger SEUS to upload to the phone the latest generic USA software? What CDA should I use for North America? I see the ATT/USA one in the downloads section, but is that the customized att one I would need to brand the phone to ATT from generic?

    I only really need English on there, otherwise I just need it to be generic and upgradeable through SEUS without all the stupid ATT limitations.

    I dont have a data plan with them, but would I be able to set it to use a private in home 3g network? Is there even such a thing? I have seen new routers have 3g in them... Would I still be able to use data through att on a generic phone in the future?

    Otherwise, could I use the built in GPS? I saw a few places use preloaded maps to the memory stick and I thought I would try that as well.

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    I have Enterprise Mcafee installed on this PC with latest definition files, and it's not reported as a virus. From what I have read, this is a false detection, you need to exclude it from Norton. Have you the latest virus definition files?

    Re: A2-DB3150 Flashing

    1) Add files BEFORE connecting phone.
    2) Add files, click Flash, hold either the C or the 5 button depending your phone model.
    Cheers.
