reflash failed - need help

I have a SE w850
last nite it failed
visited CPW and P4U - got nowhere
they recommended a local independent phone shop
the shop said a reflash for £10 would sort it
took 15mins
phoned seemed to be ok
but cannot send or receive texts - the main use for the phone
i can make and receive calls
phone is on 3 - they directed me to SEUS - when update service is run it says latest firmware is loaded - no further updates available etc....
Service menu says r1ed001 is being used
I have also ran master reset
Can anyone help me please - i have been at this for about 10hrs today alone and going nuts

Did you go there to complain, what did they say?
