Does anyone tried to ask AT&T to unlock the phone? Or, can someone suggest which unlock service is cheaper and better?
BTW, can I upgrade the firmware before unlock the phone?

The company is not important
It can will AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, etc... Is the same
You can unlock via IMEI, look in the jasminīs signature
Yes, you can
I've called AT&T and the guy gave me an 8 digits number. However, he didn't ask my IMEI number. Is it right? If yes, how can I apply the number?
That's strange... they usually ask for IMEI so they can get the unlock code for your phone. I think you should check with them about that 8 digit number before you try to input that number into your phone to unlock your phone. I forgot what happens when you try to input the wrong unlock code in x amount of times; but all in all it's not good ;)
I finally got it worked. First, the 8 digits number is wrong. I just called AT&T again. The guy ask my IMEI this time and gave me 16 digits unlock code. Second, when I tried the 8 digits number, the number of the "Network" changed from 5 to 4. However, after I used the 16 digits, it not only unlock the phone but also change the number of the "Network" back to 5. Don't understand but I think it's good.:D
I think anyone can try this way. If you or your friends are AT&T customer for more than 6 months, you can, or ask your friends to, call AT&T to get the unlock code. Hope this can help.:)
