    Randomly dodgy W880i

Even the slightest twisting/bending of my W880i can make the difference between it freezing or not. A little bend this way makes it freeze or unable to boot, a little bending another way makes it fully functional.

This is driving me crazy. I have disassembled and reassembled the phone trying to find any place where it could have a bad electrical connection. Warranty is out (lost receipt) and it would be such a shame to throw away a fully functional phone for something that seems like a very simple problem.

    Any good thoughts?

    Hey @Astrodog.

Your w880 presents flaws in the logic card, try cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush.

Would you kindly expand on your theory a little further?

There are what looks like heat sinks or possibly simply housings/coverings over the surface mounted components on the main circuit board, so I can not easily check for loss in electrical connectivity there. The service manual states no way of removing this covering.

I have cleaned plenty of other connections with an alcohol-based product to no avail. Do you have any specific connections in mind? I have gotten the feeling that there could be a misconnection to the antenna or at least in that vicinity. But without any technical guidance to help me here with which electrical connections that could cause a phone to freeze, it becomes a very hard problem to investigate due to the small size of everything and lack of sufficient equipment.

Simply rubbing all over the place with iso-propyl would be something I would use on a remote control with plenty of fatty substances and other particles inside. That is not the case for this W880i.

My guesses would lead me towards thinking that a surface mounted component has for some reason partially dismounted. All flex film connectors have been disconnected and reconnected and they seem to work just fine.

What particular problem did you have in mind when proposing your solution?

custom08: It has most certainly been dropped and yes what you are thinking is most certainly within my thoughts too!
