    w380i debranding

    Hello :)

I've a w380i since few days (it's my 1st SE) and I've debranded it the same day I'd bought it.

I'm not sure about this, but I seem to remember the menu icons of the Vibes theme were different before debranding.
The phone came with the Tim Italy custom pack...does menu icons can anyway be related with firmware/custom pack?

Another issue I'm wondering about is: does the SE update service is still working for debranded phones?

    Re: w380i debranding

    1. Generic custom packs and firmwares do not carry icons, themes, sounds, etc that Operators' CDA handle like T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2, etc.
    2. If you have a debranded phone (have Generic), you can use SEUS (remember that in most cases it upgrades CID to 53 but you already have CID 53 so don't worry) to search for a new update. It works for any phone, but the thing is that branded phones with firmwares or custompacks from companies sometimes do not have more updates like Generics do.

    Re: w380i debranding

    Thx for the explanation.

The doubt related to the 2nd question come out since I performed an update via PC from SE before debranding, then I uploaded an older generic firmware (R9BB001) during my first attempt of debranding. Running such firmware, I preformed another update having for response: no new updates available...

Can you tell me what Main, FS and CDA are you using?

    Re: w380i debranding

When I went for the second updates I was running:

    W380_R9BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_LE_RED53.mbn
    W380_R9BB001_FS_EUROPE_3_RED53.fbn
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_12_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_3

when I realized these don't support my language, I swapped for

    W380_R10CA001_MAIN_GENERIC_LE_RED53.mbn
    W380_R10CA001_FS_EUROPE_5_RED53.fbn
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_14_R11A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5

    which are loaded at now

    Re: w380i debranding

The second ones (version R10CA001) are the latest version. They do not have more updates.

It's strange that a Generic version such as R9BB001 did not recognized new updates.

    Re: w380i debranding

Maybe it's related to the updater software...

In the remote hypothesis I choose to restore the original configuration, which main and FS are good with the W380i_1205-1396_R10A_TIM_Italy custom pack?
