K790a - Cannot receive SMS

A few weeks ago, my phone started acting up a little - crashing/restarting for no reason, the wall paper started getting messed up. Then suddenly I lost a lot of my ringtones and other files on the phone.

Now I have a new problem, I can send SMS, and call/receive calls, however my phone just does not receive SMS. If I change the SIM card to a backup phone, all the waiting SMS come rushing in, so its definitely a phone issue and not a network issue. (ATT/Cingular-USA)

I assumed the phone needed a firmware flash since something may have got corrupted.

Based on instructions I found here, XS++ 3.1 Guide-Flashing, Customizing, Recovering - Top Sony Forums, I flashed K790_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_EV_RED52.rar (There is no FS version for AMERICA_1 so I only flashed the MAIN).

However that hasn't fixed the issue. ANY HELP would be appreciated.

Is EROM upgrade a different thing than what I have already done?

OK. Using this post, Upgrading or repairing the EROM (FOTA) in phones CID 49 or CID 51 with Phone XS - Top Sony Forums, I just updated my EROM to K790_RED_CID52_R3B021_EROM-FOTA_2006-12-18_15.bin

What else can I upgrade to try and fix this problem?

Now you can do full flash with this 3 files:
MAIN - K790_R1JG001_MAIN_NAM_1_EV_RED52
FS - K790_R1JG001_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52 and this
CUSTPACK - HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_106_R5A_GENERIC_AMERICA_1

Thank you seamonkey. I do appreciate the response. I have a few quick questions.

1. I upgraded all the way to R8BF003, is there a reason you picked R1JG001 specifically? (Is it a more stable version?)
2. My phone was unbranded when I purchased it. I originally used MAIN_GENERIC. What is MAIN_NAM?
3. So far, I am comfortable using XS++ to install MAIN (and FS). Could you point me to an XS tutorial for CUSTPACK installation?--- Never mind... This should work... Still a one step process I see... XS++ 2.x Guide - Top Sony Forums
