Backup a new K800i Vodafone, before embarking on debrand/change to k810/modding

    Hi,

This is my first post after reading around quite heavily for the past day trying to gather information on how to begin to sort out my brand new K800i on vodafone pay as you go, which I received on Friday. I need some help!

Firstly, I got this unlocked directly from Vodafone over the phone for free (yes for free!), which was useful because this phone came with Cid53 pre installed. This means I will have no future problems with unlocking correct?

Anyway, firstly before I debrand my phone I want to know the best way to backup the firmware. I found a guide here

But preferably I don't want to have to follow the more complicated option and don't believe it will be a completely trustworthy fall back option (in case I need to utilise warranty or have problems).

I see that all I need essentially need instead are the MAIN+FS+CUSTOMIZE files. So this is what the service info in my phone tells me I need: K800_R8BF003_MAIN_VODAFONE_WI_RED53
    K800_R8BF003_FS_VFE_LIVE_2_RED53
    K800i_CDA102511_130_R4A

However, I can find the first two files here but cannot find the last, I can however find this one here. But it is unavailable for public download it seems.

Do I require this file, or can I use a different R*A option e.g. R8A etc.?

Otherwise what is the best way to create a fullsafe backup of my phone's firmware?

A quick response would be helpful, as this Vodafone crapware is horrible, I need to debrand asap, and would really like to get the 35fps camera driver, as the video currently looks terrible. I also hope someone managed to resolve the green/red call button issue when modifying the vodafone firmware?

For the moment, you can't backup GDFS on a CID53 phone. You must wait for a new release of XS++. In order to debrand, you must use a "generic" firmware:
K800_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED53, a FS according to your language( for example, if you want English - French - German - Italian, you should use: K800_R8BF003_FS_EUROPE_5_RED53) and a custom file according to FS :
    HB1-06_Generic_CDA102568_14_R4A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5
EDIT:I think you can use "K800i_CDA102511_130_R1A_Vodafone_United_Kingd om" as a custom file(for your firmware backup); since it's a vodafone customization I don't think you'll have warranty problems.

you can use any firmware but MAIN+FS has to be the same and language must match with Customization. My k800i was a vodaphone i debranded it a chinese firmware and changed icon ^^
noting mine is not a CID53, my one was a CID52

    Hi again,

I was looking at the Flash K800 CID53 with K810 software CID53 (for begginers) guide, as there doesn't seem to be any point in just debranding the K800 when I can get the K810 firmware. However, I am not quite sure which 3 files I need for my Vodafone? Can someone please detail?

    You need:
    K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED53
    K810_R8BA024_FS_EUROPE_5_RED53
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_14_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5
or, if you want a newer firmware:
    K810_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED53
    K810_R8BE001_FS_EUROPE_4_RED53
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_13_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_4

The current firmware on my phone says: VFE_LIVE_2 (see first post). Hope this helps.
