Unhappy Sony W580 dead after rebranding attempt?

    Hi all,

I'm quite new to unlocking and debranding, however, i gave it a try.

My W580i was locked for Movistar (Spain) and branded as such.

After reading the tutorial here: Remove SIM-lock patch generator - Top Sony Forums I successfully unlocked it. I used the MAIN W580_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52.

    I used SE tool 2 lite v.1.11.

After this I wanted to rebrand it to a generic Dutch firmware.
I found the FS file W580_R8BE001_FS_EUROPE_3_RED52. However, I understood that also a cust. pack was needed to complete the rebranding.

Since I could not find a R8BE type cust pack I used this one: HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_12_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_3. Is this my mistake?

In SE tool I added MAIN and FS to the file section, the cust. pack to the "firmware upgrade pack" field, and the vkp file I still had from the last time to the MISC files.

Furthermore, since I already followed this step during the unlocking, I switched on the option "use quick access patch".

The log file of the rebranding process:
    Code:

Also, I noticed the word "BAD" now above the "Firmware upgrade pack:" field in SE Tool.

Now I start the phone the firmware is in Dutch, but it says "incorrect sim card" or "configuration error" after I enter my pin. This happens for both my Dutch and my Movistar simcard.

I don't want to completely brick my phone, so i'm not trying anything else at the moment without advice from some experienced people.

Do you guys have any idea on how I can fix this? Is the cust. pack the problem? Did I upload it incorrectly with SE tools (didn't know how exactly to upload the file), or did I use the wrong version?

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

    Vincent.

    go back to the beginning.

Fs must match Main and custom must match fs.

Download correct firmwares and then go back to remove simlock tutorial and reflash.

One more thing - put CUSTPACK in MISC , not "Firmware upgrade pack:"

    Thanks bad_boy640, lavondys and seamonkey!

Very helpful comments. I will try your suggestions and will let you know if it worked.

Btw, for others having problems finding the correct custpack, I think I managed to find the it now with the help on this page: Top Sony - CDA W580

I used the CDA number (extract this with XS++) to find the correct custpack.

    Cheers,
    Vincent

Smile Sony W580 dead after rebranding attempt?

I just redid the process in the tutorial, then uploaded seperately the cust file with SE tool in MISC files like you said (in contradiction to what I said before in the end I used the HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_12_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_3, since it is sim-lock free), and then removed the simlock.

All works fine now! I would like to thank you guys for your help!

    Cheers,
    Vincent
