I recently flashed a vodafone K800i with the K800_R8BF003_MAIN_VODAFONE_WI_RED52.mbn firmware and a removed SIMlock vkp file generated from the main file. Everything seemed to work fine, except now there is a problem with the backlight on the LCD. When the phone goes into sleep/screensaver mode the backlight doesn't come back on when you press a key to bring the phone out of sleep. The only way round it is to either go into settings and adjust the backlight level or press keylock then key unlock. This brings the backlight back but it is at a dimmed level, not full. sometimes the full brightness comes back on.
I suspected this may be an issue with the Vodafone firmware so I flashed with the generic firmware instead. This hasn't fixed the problem, but I am happy it's unbranded the phone. I Originally tried to use the generic firmware on it, but it would only allow me to use the vodafone firmware with XS ++ following the tutorial DB2020.exe
I got round this by using K800_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52.mbn to generate a Remove_SIM_lock_K800_R8BF003.vkp using the SIMLockPatchGen.exe.
Instead of using the unbranding features of XS ++ as described in the tutorial, I just used the 2 files with setool2liteV1.11 to patch the phone.
Basically XS ++ gave me a flashblock error but the settool2lite software can obviously bypass the DB2020 security on the vodafone K800i. Therefore, I would suggest using this method to unbrand the Vodafone firmware and not the XS ++ method in the tutorials.
I have also noticed a small issue with the firmware when browsing photos in landscape view, the phone freezes up for about 10 seconds. Assume this is fixed in CID53?
Any news on when CID53 support will be available for the SIMOX sware etc?
