i don't know how to change IMEI, but you CAN call the provider and ask them to unblock the service for your phone.
call the provider? e.g. sony ericsson?
It doesn't matter that the imei number belongs to a phone that you own, it's still illegal in the UK to alter the imei number on a phone.
Phones are more often blocked by the network operator if the handset has been lost or stolen, so contacting SonyEricsson wouldn't help. If you knew who the original network on the phone was from your friend's Uncle you could always contact them and find out as harper1988 suggested as it could have had it's imei blacklisted by mistake.
is handset only i reckon its from ebay where he got it from
once you unlock the IMEI changes I hope if it is a case of broken gdfs.
