Help with Davinci please!!! W890i

Hello there!!

I have a SE W890i & having started a thread about the posibility of free unlocking of this phone, I was advised that free unlocking is not yet available & the best "pay for" service available is using the Davinci client.

I have had a lot of problems trying to even get davinci's signed USB W890 drivers to install but eventually, by having the phone connected in "phone" mode, I've managed to get the drivers to install. I could not get the drivers to install in either "media" mode or "mass storage" mode, not sure why, there is no mention of this in Davinci's own installing drivers guide.

The phone is detected as SE W890i bla bla bla when connected in phone mode & is also detected as an unplugged network device??

Anyway, when I run the Davinci client & use the username & password, to get the client to start up that works fine, however, when I connect the phone it is detected as SEMCBOOT not as SE W890i bla bla bla (the same device name that I could not install the USB drivers in mass starage & media mode)

I've tried connecting the USB cable with the C button held down, the 2 button held down, for longer & shorter periods of time, I've tried leaving the battery out for up to 30 minutes before reinstalling & connecting USB cable etc but nothing seems to work, the client just does not detect the phone.

I should at least be able to get the phone to talk to my PC & confirm the CID using this method but it just wont work.

Does anybody have any idea where I'm going wrong???

Any help & advice would be very much appreciated!! I'm really stuck with this now.

I have also followed the USB Flash Driver Installation - Guide you provided a link too but I still have the same problem. I think the phone is not going into boot mode when I connect it. I have tried holding the C button and also the 2 button but it still won't boot. Are there any other buttons I should try to get it to go into boot mode?

What about 2+5 combination.

Hello Jasmine,

If I connect the phone while holding 2+5, the phone is detected as a download device. It will not accept the drives when I boot it this way, but at least it does detect it as another device other than SEMCBOOT.

Do you have any other suggestions I could try??
