Is unlocking k850i possible now?

I'm completely new to this so I would like to say hi all :)
I've been browsing the forum in search for answer can k850i be unlocked? My father gave me this phone but it's locked on on the network that he's using. I asked the provider to unlock my phone so I could use it on my network since all payments have been made but they have some stupid policy of not to do that to newly sold phones for next 6 months. And what do I suppose to do till then. Look at the phone and imagine I'm using it? So can I unlock it or do I have to start saving money for paying one of local phone shops to unlock it since they will probably charge me one fourth of amount phone coasted if they can do it at all :mad:
