This is for anyone who may encounter this problem in the future:
I managed to get this problem fixed simply by dropping my phone on the ground (accident of course :D). This led me to believe that the problem was not software related but hardware related. After a bit of research and nagging of SE customer service, I found that the problem was caused by a loose ribbon cable. If anyone finds that they have encountered a problem like this, send it in for repairs; its not your fault, its @#%$ craftsmanship.
