    failed patching 2 .vkp files

    Hi,

I have a W580i (red/52) and flashed R8BA024 the other day. Everything is working fine so far and I went ahead to patch the "brightness settings 10-100%" patch. That worked fine. As I tried patching the radio_without_headsets patch, I received this following log:

    Starting to process VKP patch script: C:\Documents and Settings\D D\My Documents\W580i\patch\W580_R8BA024_Radio_without_h eadsets.vkp
VKP script loaded OK. Lines: 5
    Line #1: ÿþ; W 5 8 0 S W - R 8 B A 0 2 4 - ignored. No ":"
    Only NOR FLASH supported! $44000000-$46000000
    Elapsed:29 secs.

Same thing happens with the remove_beep_sound patch. What does "ONLY NOR FLASH SUPPORTED" mean?

One thing I might need to tell you is I think that I hopefully reflashed the custom pack right. I reflashed the custpack because I used the K510 europe_5 custpack (included in XS++) earlier and then later found the proper custpack for it. I'm sure, however, that I got the custpack down this time. I hope that shouldn't be the problem.

    Help is appreciated!

"ONLY NOR FLASH SUPPORTED" -> Wrong patch !

    This is your patch:

    Code:
    ;W580 SW-R8BA024
    ;Radio without headsets
    ;(с) SiNgle
    ;(p) Maximys
    450FA310: 01D1 01E0

I did the exact same patch... I also removed the description line in Russian... does that mean that my FW is not correctly flashed?? I doubt it... because when I go on Settings -> general tab -> update service -> software version, it says:

    CXC1123362 R8ABA024 Sony Ericsson...

firmware doesn't show up in XS++, only in SE Tool, but as MAPP CXC... could that be the problem?

    SE Tool log:

    FLASH CID:52 COLOR:RED

    Model:W580i
    MAPP CXC article: R8BA024 prgCXC1123362_GENERIC_LA
    MAPP CXC version: R8BA024

    CDA article: CDA102774/102
    CDA version: R17A
    Default article: cxc1123364
    Default version: R7AC001

    Network LOCKED
    Operator: MULTIPLE

    XS++ log:

    16:00:02| OTP CID: 51

    16:00:02| EROM CID: 52

R7AC001 you must flash Main with W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_IL_RED52

My .mbn file that I flashed was W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52.mbn

The one you gave me is IL, mine says LA... what's the difference? Also, I'm not able to download that file due to its +10MB size...

This usually means that the .vkp patch is saves as Unicode instead of ANSI.. try opening the patch in notepad and clicking "Save As" then making sure the encryption is ANSI

    Hope this helps

thanks jamie... worked like a charm... i'm surprised that neither top sony nor the se-nse tutorials mentioned the ANSI codec... i wondered that myself, but never wanted to try ANSI since it was unfamiliar to me, so I chose Unicode for all of the patches...
