newbie with some questions

Hi

Bought this ex contract Vodafone locked k800i off fleabay, took it to my local vodafone shop coz heard they unlock for free. The NUC they supplied didn't work? still waiting on them getting back to me.

My phone is

K800i Platform DB2020, EROM CID 49

Still fancy getting it unbranded though

So using various forums and 4shared I have downloaded xs++3.1 and these 2 files

K800_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_RED52
K800_R1KG001_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52

1. When I connect i get an offer to upgrade CID to 52, should I accept this?

2. Are there better files than the 2 I already have?

3. Guess I should update firmware to remove branding before adding patch?

4. Will I be able to use patch from this SIMLockPatchGen v2.1 using xs++3.1?

Ok forget those questions I have answered them meself

1. I'm going to upgrade with new firmware so it dont really matter

2. I finally found the R8BF003 Main and FS red 52 I'll use em instead

3. Realised that patch is added to Main during flashing

4. I'm gonna do it NOW using SEtool2lite as per the tut I found.

I noticed it doesn't mention the FS file? can I do the debranding at the same time as unlocking?

Do I just add it alongside the Main file?

I'd appreciate a quick answer as I'm poised ready for action:)

Okay well guess it aint gonna ghappen tonite! don't wanna brick ma bone by doing anything hastie.

Looks like I might go back to xs++3.1 to flash CID52 firmware R8BF003 to my fone to remove branding and then use SEtool2lite 1.11 to unlock it after as not sure how to get FS file on there from reading the unlocking tut on here but unsure how to unlock with patch using xs++3.1

Heres another one. If I have a R8BF003 Europe 2 FS does it matter which customization pack I pick in xs++3.

There are a few of them in the CDA list ..guess the first one is best then eh?

In the customization part do both xs++3.1 and SEtoll2lite 1.11 have files installed that I can use? In other words I just select from the dropdowns I dont actually have to download these files aswell?

Third time lucky

On my first attempt I was a bit too quick to assume the quick access patch was done and didn't wait on the "elapsed X seconds" mesage in status bar. In fact I didn't even wait on the blocks being added I just unplugged the cable when I saw the "SSW uploading finished" message. Which resulted in a bootloader failed to respond message when I tried to flash the generated patch. Phone still switched on though.

On my second attempt I couldn't suss how to choose CDA in SETool2lite so that resulted in the original custom pack not being configured for the new firmware which gave me a "configuraion error contact service provider" when powering up the phone.

Third time I added main and FS in XS++3.1 where I knoew I could select CDA from list and then I did the unlocking in SETool2lite 1.11 where I could follow the tut.

So alls well that ends well and thanks for having all this information free to hand. Although I am starting to wonder why I spent 15 hrs or so at this when I could have taken it down the shop and got it all done for £15...£1 an hour is not a good rate.

I don't normally talk to myself this much.....

Is there a record for consecutive posts by same user?
