For me personally is more convenient to download layout.xml to PC and edit with notepad. Then upload modified file to phone. Just be careful when saving to choose UTF-8 encoding. This method works for me over an year on my SE V600. Just a tip: if value is 4 - both lines are removed and if value is 3 - only first line is removed.

Does this changge affect other things on the status screen, like time and date display?
