Question what w910i Firmware to use?

    Hi

I have a w910i which keeps coming up "Inactive Sim" so I bought a new sim card for it (same network) and it says the same thing.

I thought I would update the firmare... but when I go to "Downloads" it only mentions "W910i" RED ? Mine isn't red... does this matter? Mine is black...

Also, what do I need to apply the firmware?

The phone has a "provider sim lock" through the network. You should change provider with another sim to see if it still locked. The update don't remove this lock.

RED it's the "color" of you phone/firmware. RED=retail

BLUE/BROWN/RED: This "color" defines what kind of phone we are dealing with. BLUE phones has been assembled at the factory, but never been programmed with software/GDFS/IMEI (remember kids: the IMEI is stored in the OTP (One Time Programmable memory)). BROWN phones are "developer phones", for testing. Less restrictions are present, as these are used for "debugging/beta" purposes. As of CID36, a phone has to be converted to BROWN to unlock it. RED phones are your typical retail ones.

C'mon, "Inactive Sim" means generally that your provider hasn't yet activated your SIM. This happens generally when you buy a NEW SIM but u wanna keep your old number for example, and the network has to "Cross" your number from a SIM to another.

    Is this your case?
