Installing patches w580i R8BA024

Dear TopSoniers,
I have been searching all around this forum and found out about patches, I also tried to find a tutorial I could understand, but it doesn't make sense to me. I've read my gdfs using SEToolLite2, I got gdfs_<imeinumber>.bin and tried to use SIMLockPatchGen.
I clicked the three dots and loaded the .mbn file I used to flash my mobile phone, then I dragged gdfs_<imeinumber>.bin to the dragform. It comes up with the following error:

Selected firmware: <maps>\gdfs_<imeinumber>.bin
Analyzing firmware...
"<maps>\gdfs_<imeinumber>.bin" is not a valid firmware!
FINISHED.

What am I doing wrong?

Wow I make myself look stupid, I know how to do it now and I got the vkp file, but what do I do with that?
