Dont use Sony Ericsson update service.
your phone can be upgraded to cid53 and there is no free unlock solution for DB2020 cid53.

It's not only about "free unlock solution". As far as i know, cid53 on db2020 phones can't be hacked. This means that you won't be able tu use SeTool, XS++ or Far Manager on your cid 53 phone. Also, unlocking will be more expensive then normal. As the persons above me said, be very careful when using SEUS, or better, don't use it at all.
My bad. You CAN FLASH CID 53 phones using Far Manager plugin JDFlasher. This is great news. But you won't be able to unlock it for free, because CID 53 pathcing isn't possible at this time.

Well, i don't think that you'll get AT&T firmware back on your phone.
Untill now we know that W580 and K800 are upgraded to CID53 by SEUS.

That`s hard to say. They could be already out with CID53, but I don`t think soo. But soner or later everybody will update via SEUS and then it will become CID53.

vitaliy325, use XS++ to find which CID ur mob is... don't use the right, * and left buttons of ur mobile..

1. Install the USB drivers.. (u can easily find them in d forum)
2. Switch off ur mobile. then take the battery out and then re-insert it.
3. Open the XS++ software.
4. Click on Connect button in XS++
5. Press and Hold down the C button of ur mobile and connect the USB cable to ur mobile... (Keep the C button held down while u insert the USB cable)
6. As soon as ur mobile is detected, the XS++ will show u details of ur mobile including ur CID version.

Is there any reason someone would want to use SEUS instead of flashing it using XS++ or SEtool? Why does Sony upgrade the CID? To stop people from hacking their phones, or is there some kind of benefit in terms of phone operation?

I stuffed my k800i up with seus, it upgraded to cid53 and back to orange net only, one local shop said they don't have the tech to unlock it yet when they do it will be £25, i took it to a guy in a local market who only charges £5 normally, he said he would have to take it away, got it back unlocked £10

waste of time using seus, its always messing up something, no megabass after update in w810, changing cid's of db2020 phones, i wonder what's next?

Very bad i update my T650i and now i have CID53 with R8BE001 firmware!
Now i have to wait until CID53 is hacked:)

SEUS updates both, firmware and...sometime CID too.

Update FW is always a good thing for your phone, because often it solves problems\bugs.

If it also updates CID then it's something bad, because it prevents u by customize your phone.

It's a question of evaluating things, or almost, to get information about what a certain kind of update will do.

Anyway as soon as SEUS updates CIDs, hackers starts working on a way to get rid of it, so don't worry either.

When guys of XS++ will release new version, a lot of questions will have a reply.

1) I just bought aa S500i and I believe it's CID52 still (haven't checked it yet). Let's say I unbrand it and unlock it. After that, I update the phone using SEUS. Will my phone stay unbranded and unlocked forever? If I'm upgraded to CID53, what won't I be able to do?

2) Is there any other way, a simpler way, to check what CID my phone has without using XS++?

can you provide me the link to download Far Manager plugin JDFlasher that supports cid53?all i want is to revert my phone,k810i back to its original state. no more modding for me, i deeply regret~

You can see a list with some of the known phones that will be updated to cid53, but it has 2 weeks. It's better you search some more to see if your phone listed.

where can download a firmware for p990i? i dont like the download section beacuse i have to wait for 2 months

Does SEUS update all the phones to CID 53 or just few of them? Mine is T650.

yes you can do that using this command

This should be made sticky so ppl can read this and not screw up their phones like I did :) . I not only have CID 53 on my K810 now, but also wrong firmware, phone isn't working properly and I can do nothing about it :) . Feels like some kind of a disease and I'm infected with it :rolleyes: . I am CID 53 positive.

They have couple of firmwares for P990 at .:Top SE:. . They require registration, but once you've registered you can start downloading, no need to wait or anything.

depends on your phone and IMEI. let's say you have a W580 (which can be upgraded to CID53) and your IMEI is not on the list, then your CID won't be updated.

my sons k800i updated to 53 and locked, he contacted orange his provider said he wanted to use it overseas, paid 19.99 UK and got the unlock code, although they said it could take 3 wks (they needed imei) it took 4 days, and a full unlock code was received
