If the phone is CID49/52 you need to upgrade it with xs++.

Start xs++
Turn of the phone.
Press the button connect.
Hold "C" button on the phone and connect the DCU-60 cable.
if CID is lower then 52 xs++ will ask you if you want to upgrade CID press yes.
Disconnect the phone and close xs++

Start patch generator.
Open firmware in the patch generator (firmware type = mbn).
Press the button make patch.
You will find the generated patch in a folder called vkp.

How to apply patch.
Start setool2 lite 1.11
Select phone modell.
Tick bypass DB2020 security box.
Press the button add and browse for the main file.
Add patch In MISC files.
Press flash and follow instruction in setool.

I mean, I f I have the appropiate patch for the firmware the phone is actually running, can I apply the patch alone insttead flashing Main and patch together ?

I need to know this please, because otherwise one has to download every firmware for every db2020 model

I have a web space where I can share with others the RED52 latest firmwares fr every model if someone could uplod it there I can share it with everyone...

Can anyone explain somewhere it says phones can be unlocked by patch if cid is 52 here we are changing cid to 52 to apply patch and unlock it. I am realy confused what it truth. Please help!

When a dialog pop-up, click "Yes" to remove the patch. Click "No" to add the patch.

i tried this method of patching for the w580i running the W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52 i created the patch and followed the tur=torials that are around all appeared to be fine and it showed as unlocked in the <**< but the phone would only accept the sim card from the original locked network which was orange any ideas why ?

When adding a patch I have to add the MAIN file, do I have to add an FS file?

You need only the MAIN file, first time, when you apply the quick access patch to phone.
Next time when you want to apply a patch, you just tick Use "quick access" patch.

If my phone is branded to a network and I want to upgrade to unbranded to I need the FS then?

i followed this tutorial fully and i managed to debrand my phone and i applied the quick acess patch then i applied the patch to unlock the w580i but it still will not accept any other sim from the original provider which is orange andy ideas to why? or maybe what i can do to make my handset unlock
