Few Questions Before Flashing K800i with XS++

Hello, everyone! I'm a newbie to phone flashing. I would like to ask a few questions and clarify some things before I proceed with flashing my phone,

1. How do I know if my phone is branded or not?
2. So what’s the difference between a branded and unbranded phone? Does it matter when using XS++?
3. When to use SE update service? Do I need to use it after I flashed my phone?
4. How do I know if it is a bad flash?
5. Do I have to remove my Memory Stick before flashing?
6. The Software Info from my phone have shown me this information:

6.a What is its main firmware (MAIN)?
6.b What is its file system (FS)?
6.c Based on the software info, do you have any other comments/suggestions in flashing my phone with XS++?

Hello

1. and 2. Branded Phones = Some network providers place their own ringtones, themes, icons, links etc within phone's software. (eg. vodafone, orange, t-mobie, rogers, cingular etc.) Debranding means removing all this content and restoring phone to it's original factory SONYERICSSON condition. This will not damage phone in any way! You will loose Operator Icons, and links, WAP, and MMS settings however these you can get via Sony Ericsson - Sony Ericsson

6. Look you connect your phone to xs++ and copy here your log from phone.

Firmware has two parts:
1. FS: It contains languages, images, sounds, animations, settings, etc. Anything that isn't pure software.
2. Main: It contains the software.

Note: MAIN and FS HAVE to be the same software version

Customization has to be same region as FS, in this case
FS = EU5 (EUROPE_5)
Customization =CDA102338/50 ( EUROPE_5 Sunrise Switzerland)

Is this correct?

I have a Q : if I flashed my phone with the main files only without the FS, does it works , or I need to flash it with both at the same time & if I flshed my phone with the main only does it means that both of the main & the FS will B erased & both should B replaced??

Look if you flash your phone only by main, then your phone won´t work, if you took different MAIN that is FS ( They have to be the same software version R1BC002 ).
The best is that you both flash ( Main and filesystem ). If you flash only Main, then only Main will be erased.

Yes, you can use k800_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_RED52.

You can use MAIN CHINA, then with Setool2lite 1.11 must apply quick access patch.vkp

Use these files here for K800_R8BA024_MAIN_CHINA_WI_RED52:
Quick Access patch.vkp
Remove_SIM_lock_K800_R8BA024.vkp

1. Select phone model - K800.
2. Click Identify
3. Mark Bypass DB2020 security
4. Add Main ( K800_R8BA024_MAIN_CHINA_WI_RED52.mbn )
5. On MISC files add Quick Access patch.vkp
6. Click Flash hold "C" and plug USB cable.

After 3 - 4 min. Setool say to unplug cable, reinsert battery and click READY then again hold "C" and plug USB cable.

Then click NO to apply patch and wait ~ 20 min.

After all you have Quick Access patch and can apply patches (*.vkp), but now you must convert patches for MAIN CHINA!

1. Select phone model - K800.
2. Click Identify
3. Mark Use "quick access" patch
4. On MISC files add Remove_SIM_lock_K800_R8BA024.vkp
5. Click Write SCRIPT
