Hi there,
I am new to flashing my phone and I want to understand a bit more.
I know the language is stored in the FS so I need to get the right region for my phone for certain languages.
But what does the CustPack have is region specific?
thanks!

this contains specefic information about customization. this stores info about the operator, language, region and sometimes it stores some images, audio or videos. there are customs that are modified up to an operator.
Sony Ericsson and Phone services make the custom packs.
Some people don't like the branded custom pack.
they are the customization files for your phone based on your area. they are responsible for network connection type.
Contains:preconfigured Images etc (by some branded models).2 it has some, how the name says, custom function:e.g. if u can turn off the camera-sound etc
Is there an application avaliable that would allow you to create your own Customize.xml file ?
Can I change custpacks to unbrand my phone ? (w580 and w810)
Cust pack only cannot ubrand phone
even FS must be flash to debrand !!
Cust pack is an xml file with list of languages to be enabled .. and also some settings to be disabled if its branded !
The custpack contains: an xml file with language, operator and links. It contains info about what theme, background, ringtone and games that the phone shouldh have hven you start it for the first time. When the operator gets the phone, they flash it with a branded custpack and a firmware that contains spesial links icones and layout for the phone.
Is the CustPack mendatory ? Do I have to chose my carrier's one, or can I flash a generic one according to my region (EU_1 or EU_3 for example) ?
It depend witch FS you have, if if carriers then take costum from it.
But if you wont to debran your phone, then you use main generic, FS and costum that contanig you language.
Could I build a custpack with integrated custom menus/themes/ringtones/drivers/etc? This would be great to making true "packs".
my phone have Asian custpack, so i can use different custpack ???
with different custpack phone wil be locked ???
Branded Custom pack contain the command to delete file, rename the softkey, block mp3 ringtones, etc.
THen what would be the custpack for w810 users of APAC_1? (Current location : Malaysia

is there an application avaliable that would allow you to create your own ringtone file

may i change my lan by yusing cust pack
In many cases yes (except Chinese basically).
Right... You need custpack and FS
customization can be changed, but you need to know your residing area or region, then select cda according to your region so that you don't get configuration error!
A custom pack is more or less like registry for a pc.If you open a xml file you see. There are false or true like 01 or 00 in the registry. There you can add things
like show sos calls or not, techmode or not etc.You can also modify it to fit your region. As far as I know (I have alredy done it) you can modify the CDA (numbers) and add languages (allowed languages) by replacing the short writing of the eg de,fr,en,zu and place the initials of your language (as long as there is in the firmware). So find a custom pack for your mobile ,open xml, modify cda, language and everything you need and load it.
ps sometimes there are additional files in a custom file like ringtones, images etc (branded firmware). If you modify such a custom file remove the additional files and any references to them.
