Newbie flash user - w580i

Hey wassup everybody, started reading all the post here when I first started -had a branded at&t w850i - I really wanted the flash themes, menus and features that where locked by At&t.. the quickist and easiest way that I was able to do unbrand and added the flash menus and themes with no problem what so ever was first i used the wonton server - pretty straight forward. paid about 7 u.s. dollars and the application worked as promised .total time 6 minutes for debranding and unlocking every feature on phone - especially being able to use your own mp3's as ringtones..no more buying ringtones. then I used the xx++ to upload flash themes and menus..all this in one about an hour..I must admit , I was crossing my fingers everytime i did any process but it all worked as promised.. if any body needs more details let me know ..cause I know some instructions can be alittle vague.. but i was able to hook my phone in about an hour and if you read my first post , you wil l see that I didn't understand any tech lingo..lol

hi i just bought myself a w580i it is unlocked does that mean it has flash on it??

and can u plz tell me how to put flash themes on the w580i plz

the phones probably has one flash theme installed, but I can help you with the other flash themes installed..just make sure it's unbranded - no cell phone company apps on it. the first thing you need is too download xs++ , then follow this guide.very well put together by aks_win http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=16652 . If you still have problems let me know what I can help clear up.

Hi, I also just got a w580i from AT&T. I now want to unlock the phone to get features like the RSS reader, and menus. Is downloading from the woton server the easiest way you found to unlock the phone? Btw I am running Vista home premium, how bout you. Second to that are there 2 different kinds of themes. I have already added themes to my phone, but am not sure if they are flash themes.

there was so much information here with so many updates here and there..I think if you invest a good amount of money on your phone -you deserve to at least spend 7 u.s. dollars or the equivalent in euros for a more grounded flashing system and wonton felt like the most up to date and reliable (thats not to say that they also don't have phones that have issues after using their service) but they were established. I also wasn't too familiar with flashing so I just wanted to get to the source and just get it done ..no downloading here for this and download another app for custom files.. Wonton did what it had to do in six minutes.. i would recommend it if you don't have time to get all the downloads of apps . but if you have the time and can spare your phone to experimenting thenthere are other apps here for you..

I'm not too famliar with Visata and honestly don't know if alot of the apps here will support Vista, it might be another reason to use wonton..buI'm also not sure if it also supports Visa??? just looked at their support site they do support Vista -http://www.wotanserver.com/Getting_Started_Guide.pdf

CRXnoob...that tutorial is for flashing s500 to w850i..if you have a s500 then that should help you. I also forgot to mention that it's important that you have a 2 gig memory card .. they're very hard to find. tere are some flash themes you can use without having to flash your firmware you just need to save to your memory card and then set them. I have some flash wallpapers i have ollected from the flashlite section to help you for now before you start flashing your phone..remember to save it your memory card ..make a folder and call it flash wallpapers..

checked your attached files and found some 240x320 clocks.

I am searching a specific clock ... I am using the musaic flash menu and standby and had it combined with the everchanging theme no.3 for my truffle brown k770i... it is looking very nice with that styles (somewhere I had posted some pics here, dont know where anymore).

lets come to my question:
I found this everchanging clock (it is exactly the same style like my everchanging theme): here you can take a look on a screenshot of this clock

unfortunally this swf-file is only in 176x220 and I wonder from where do you get your flash-clocks ... so that I can take a look there!

Need this clock in 240x320! the old one was named "eyez clock"

I got most from SE-NSE fORUM - http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?s...5&#entry145335 didn't really notic to see if they ahev those measuements..but that thread would be the best place to start.

Yeah I realized that the link I posted was for flash a S500 I was really just asking if the principle was the same(especially if I could use the firmware since I already downloaded it. But I suppose your right and that $7 isnt really much to ask when i got the phone free with my plan.

On a completely different note I just got unlimited internet and am using the new Opera Beta. Is that what you would suggest or perhaps something I don't know about.

CRXnoob the principal is the same basically the same. i got my phone for free also.. , as for the internet..i honestly rarely use it, so I haven't really invested anytime on researching any apps. But let me know how it is.. the wonton server will hook you up in 6 minutes.. let me know if there is something that you don't get on the wonton server..if you decide to do it..

as for w800 coulod not neen aplied with w880.

hey i have a problem, i managed to flash the menus in my phone but i dont know where to find them? They arent in my themes folder and i dont know where else to look. im a total noobiiiiiiee at this

I am haven a issue with the wotanclient i have baught a credit to unbrand my att w580i.

and i read the guide but hit a unknown snag

so i preped the phone by taken out the sim and memory card and battery. like the guide told me.

ran wotanclient pressed start and asked me to plug in my phone via usb.

put back in the battery pluged in the usb, held down the "C" button {nothen}

(side note)
when pluging in the Se w580i window's wizard driver pops up looken for drivers for the unknown device. is this the issue? if so how do i fix it and if i fix it could i continue with my unbranding?

excuse me mates..i have flashed my 770 with xs++ v. 3.1 and no problems..but i can't upload flash .swf files in it!
i've reed to use FSX included in xs++, but i can't understand if i 've to upload custom files and then press the "flash button" to upload, or if i've to use directly FSX and then, when the FSX shows the FS structure, move the files into the folders..

could anyone help me?

all files U wanna upload with XS++ have to be in "files_to_upload" folder.
SWF files have to be in: "files_to_upload\tpa\present\system\desktop\fl ash" folder (create folder in folder with that names)
thm files have to be in "files_to_upload\tpa\user\theme" folder (same as before, create folder in folder with those namings)

Hey once you flash your phone and put the .swf files inside it then you cannot see it from the file manager or PC.

But you can use the flashmenu by editing the xml file present inside the theme to point to the flashmenu .swf file you put inside your phone filesystem.

this is how it is..

.swf->phone memory inside file system
.thm->in your mem card.

But you need to modify the .thm file to point to the .swf file in the phone FS for it to work.


and if you use xs++ 3.1 there is no need for the files_to_upload thing, you can directly browse into the phone fsx and drag n drop the files from windows

but just another thing: when i drag the .thm file with XS++ 31.1 into the /user/theme folder, it goes directly into the mem card or i have to move it then?

i read somewhere that if the 580i has CID51 or CID52 that it wouldnt be a good idea. how would i know if my phone has this or not?

W580i is always CID52... and i think the best way to explore your phone is still the old but efficient Far Manager with SEFP DB2020 plugins... i started SE pimpin with it and i still use it and it simply rocks!

can sum1 plz teach me how to install flash menus from scratch ...what program i need and evrything :D . i got a w200i ...thnx whoever helps me out ...i would realy appreciate it :D

mate i tried what u told me to do it but it still comes up with the message stating phone cannot be detected and it says disconnect and unplug

You can check if your phone has CID 51 or CID 52 when you connect the phone to xs++.

One question, exactly what has to be edited in the Theme.xml file?
