K850i is out!

There's no more star by the K850i!!!!! and on howardforums there is a post in the sony section of people receiving the email

But when there is no star anymore, it can cost still weeks till the device is in stores :(

with my k550 it was even more like 2-3 weeks untill there was a dutch shop wich got it

But I don't think I'm going to buy one yet the price of 600 euros is to much for me

Where I can buy this phon??

Well for starters it certainly looks the part, albeit a bit chunky from the side. Also I love that it's got so many features & the blue or green glowing buttons (depending on your colour selection) mark it out from the drab Orange or white LED's on other phone key pads. I read Rick's review (he is in the UK) & he uses a K800i at the moment which is another fine cybershot phone. This phone is thinner that the K800i & although the K850i has a 5 Megapixel camera, this simply refers to the size of the final picture, & not the quality. The quality of the image is defined by the grade of sensors that refine what the camera lens sees. Also, the focal length of the lens plays a part in quality of images taken. The K800i camera has a focal length of 5.2mm which is good. It is a thicker phone than the K850i so it can accommodate this, yet the K850i being thinner could reduce the focal length of the lens, making it more likely a lower focal length is used. This results in lower quality images. I would recommend this phone to anyone, & even though it's Sony Ericsson's latest Cyber-shot phone, it's still not a replacement for a digital camera.

No, a phone will never be a replacement of a digital camera. But it could make fine pictures though

Just so people know, there phonesoure-usa is selling the phone for $524 US.

But I've also heard of a lot of slight problems with the 1st edition on HoFo. Screens acting weird, sensors not working properly, pictures coming out bad, creeky case.

I think I'm gonna hold off till it's a bit cheaper, and maybe when it gets a nice firmware upgrade.

Paid 565 flat no tax with cash purchase for mine which is the blue version. They dont have it on display, I asked the guy if they had it, he looked in the computer and told me 15 minutes, I had my phone in 15 minutes.

I think using a cybershot phone can replace my digital camera because it's simplicity, as long as you are not a professional photographer.

hold off on getting a k850i for now - the current (initial release) firmware is, shall
we say, less than optimal !!
There are numerous hangs and crashes when it's doing nothing - mine requires the
battery to be removed once or twice a day when it hangs up in standby. It's easy to
see if it's hung - all the keypad lights are on !!!!

what's the diference between K790a and K790i???

i would wait till at least the first firmware is release before picking one of these up. it always seems that by the second or third FW update before they get all the bugs worked out of it.
