It's a great phone with HSDPA (3.6 Mbits), so it has a great connection speed. When it comes to music the Sony Ericsson K850 is equipped with Music Player 3.0 which is almost the same as the newly announced verion 3.0 of the Walkman player which is to be seen in Sony Ericsson W910 Walkman phone. Further on, the K850 comes with stylish light effects to suit the rhythm of the currently playing track. Again, much like the W910, the Sony Ericsson K850 has a built-in motion sensor but whether it can be used to control the music player. Sony Ericsson K850 will be available in Velvet Blue or Luminous Green in the beginning of Q4 2007. Correct me if I wrong

To be honest I expected touchscreen. Also I read an article where it is said that the change in quality is hardly noticed in photos above 3MP when printed on an A4 and I am willing to believe that. I don't think that there will be many people who will switch to k850 from k800 as they did from k750 to k800, except if the main reason is to be up to date.

Actually Sony Ericsson did a good job not putting joystick on the phone.Because some of there past models had really big problems with the joysticks,so it's quite nice.When i hold it for the first time in my hand,i toaght that the buttons are very small and it is quite heavy.But there very sensative.So i think that Se did good job with this phone.
I must say it's true about weak joysticks, but using it is very easy... problem is in nokia phone when i have in phone big site i must everytime push this navigation key each time down when i want to go on end of page but se have also navigation keys but you push it one time and its going down, and this is + of se ;) But i think se would start making better joysticks which will can work some years. Phone is heavy so its good, i will feel the vibrates in my pocket, cuz i dont feel vibrates from not heavy phones
its amazing, I can't wait anymore, W910 or K850 tough choice
The only thing that is regretable is the joystick..

I was contemplating the K850, but since it's still brand new, the price would be too high for my range, and decided to get the K810 instead. Now I don't have to carry around my Cybershot DSC-T5 for those spur of the moment photographs.
Pictures will be better then other phones but not better than normal camera with 4mpx i think
K850 looks great, just hope its not going to be a disappointment when using like the W880 is for me

Il est terrible le K850 mais pour le moment, c'est mon K550 qui est au top!!!!
K850i is similar to K800i, i think the K900 with camera 7MP and optical zoom will be revolution.
a mobilephone will never make a good camara they use small cheap crappy sensors and lenes as i found out with the k800i i will get the w910 and a proper digital camera
The reason why they have crappy camera is that they want our money. add 2 mp on a phone and they can sell it for $600+ every 4 months. next month add 1 more megapixel and 3 more digital zoom, next add this a little fix here, another thing there.. All they have to do is just swap the camera lens and mold a different plastic..
They can put out a 10 mp camera fone anytime they want. but if they do that, its impossible to do a camera any larger and no one will buy any new ones since people will say newer phone no improvement = no buy.
Nothing special to look at really. I actually find it quite ugly.
i think this phone is disappointing in a way. from previous series upgrades the step up from k750i to k800i was a major one but the k850i i think still needed a bit more time under development. all they have managed to do is create a phone with half it potential; rele they could have gone out of their to install many feature missing from todays line of camera phones such as a true mechanical shutter, optical zoom, better video recording quality and the list could go on. i know you can argue that k800i didnt have half the stuff im mentioning so why should the k850i go any further that it has to, but time has gone by and so has the need for THAT extra technology. if SE rele put their resources into the production of this phone they could have made a mobile history of the first true dual faced (purpose) phone.
i approve that k800i should carry the cybershot name as it was an landmark, a sort of industry standard by what all camera phones are measured by and showed the future of camera phones. frankly the k850i isnt the future that the k800i promised from one of the greatest mobile manufacturers. it seems like it was stuck together with parts from other developed phones and given a 5 Mpix camera just to try and combat the N95.
what SE has been good at in recent years is creating a phone that fully fulfills its purpose in the market.
basically what i think the k850i adds up to -K850i=k800i +5mpix camera, which isnt a bad thing just not the phone we were expecting.

@ jeebus you're right! it is only a advantage when the objective is good then you can even take 3 mp pictures while its better than a 5 mp picture!
Not only that it takes high quality pictures but it shoots videos with resolution of 320x240 and the audio codec is AAC.Look at it below.

The thing about taking the joystick off is a good thing i realy think the w810 is better then k800i trying them bouth at the joystick area (w810) has normal buttons but realy better manevrable and not failing every 1-2 mounths =)
The camera ... i dont think someone whould need bigger photos in theyr phones ~800k-1000k is realy enough for a photo 5mp is a realy high resolution i hope pictures to look better, the video stuff will be allot better it would be good to be a vga video capture =)
The price is what i dont think i will spent ... the k800 does the job pretty well and its not so big difference, but maibe for a k750 user will be great :D

i just bought one a week ago. its a bit slow right now for how expensive it is. the phone kind of lags a bit. but hopefully new firmware will fix that..
Lags more then quite a bit, had mine freeze up completely when I saved a page from the web and went to go back to it just to open it. Pictures arent as clear as the k800, without adjustments the stock settings have the pictures coming out very dark. On the positive side, the speaker phone is much better then the k800, the touch screen is great, I dont mind not having the joystick...and I am a farely large man with large hands and am able to maneuver through the features without a problem. Ringers are much louder with this phone then the k800. All in all I think a firmware update will solve most of the small glitches this phone has at this point.

i saw a test between the k850 and the nokia n95 and you can download the photos that both phones had taken with they're camera and the k850 has a much better camera than the N95, the SE camera has much more saturated colours and the N95 camera has a poor quality for the price the phone has.
Good phone :) but dont love green/red keys, and dont have back key :(
For me w910 is better ;) Dont like dpad on k850...
i love the K850.but i can buy it because in israel every thing here is expensive.
but the camera is awsome and the desing is good.
i hope 1 day i will have it.
