I have a Sony Ericsson W580i with rogers. I have bin reading a lot of threads on this site i need to know what is the best coarse of action.
Should i DE-brand my phone or is there a way just to remove the restriction?

I want to be able to use my mp3's as ring tones. ( i don't want to have to convert them to a different format)

I also heard of some kind ok way you extract the rogers cluster or change it.

So basically can some one give me a link to a thread that tell me how to do it step by step. because i know this has bin talked to about a lot.
And what is the best coarse of action.

Edit that line from your customize.xml:
<enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3>false </enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3>, like this :
<enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3>true</enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3> and upload it to :
TPA/preset/custom.

Yes, "notepad". Then you need FAR, in order to upload it to TPA/preset/custom.

How do i know what my Connection options are for my sony ericsson W580i.

ok but when i open up
far manager
and i go to SEFP

For device they only let me pick from
DCU-60
COM1

and Boot Script: i can only pick from
K_00_CID29_v3
K_00_CID29_v4
K_00_CID36_v3
K_00_CID26_v4

there is no
Boot Script: db2020
or

Device: W580

You need THIS FAR
Device should be DCU60

OK i installed Far and SEFP
the way they said.

So what am i suppose to pick

device: DCU-60
Speed: 921600
Boot script________ ???

In my Boot Script i dont got db2020.
Also i don't got all those extra Devices i only got two under that column

Try this FAR.

Boot Script: db2020 or qa2020

Did you download db2020 boot scripts (SEPF), from the tutorial I mention above ?

I just found out something. i didn't try what you said just in case I was running
XS++v3.2 and it doesn't work.
Some one said it didn't work becuse my phone is CID53.

Can your tell me again (sorry) What i should do for my settings

OK i looked threw all the files that were given on the forum and i noticed if screwed up when i was coping to in. so now i got all the Boot Script

But still only two Devices

If your phone is CID53 you must use FAR Manager + JDFlasher.
1. Connect to FAR + JDflasher, click F11 and choose "just da flasher".
2. Choose "db2020", "DCU-60", "921600", then click "jump down into a large rabbit hole".
3. Click twice on "ofs" and open TPA/preset/custom.
4. Delete "customize.xml" from the left pannel and then copy the edited one from the right pannel, with F5, or "copy".

Ok i downloaded a Ready To Use JDFlasher+Far Manager. And it worked i got into it this time.

I followed a tutorial to get to customize.xml on the left side and i don't have one on that side.

and i went into customize.xml and i did what you said.
Now i just need to know how to upload this cust pack so then i can access it from the left side and copy this file into the right.

Just to share an expirience:
I digg a solution to download Youtube videos. Some of are web sites where you put a url from YouTube and it gives you file with strange extension and small size. Some are really complicated.
My way was to use moviesherlock (moviesherlock.com or sm like this - please ask me - will rememeber). Really simple utility, that just works, and only 1 button in software.

I downloaded even HD movies!

But it looks too easy, has no player, but just works. It downloaded ~12 concurrent movies for me and actually slows down my system. Its possible to do search in moviesherlock and search results differs from what you see in YouTube. Thats strange.
Who knows - youtube search are different for same keyword? I likes cat (Simons cat / dog).
Why doesn't youtube allows to download its movies without external tools?!! It actually sucks!
