No. AT&T is just like ROGERS , as long as its branded, you can never use ringones that is more than a certain amount of KB BUT. You can convert the ringtones MP3 / WMA to a certain AT&T type ringtone, google it. As i tried to find for ringtones, rogers branded cellphones accept a type of ringtone. The point of locking your ringtone as a service provider is to force you to buy ringtones from them. Hope this helps.
Oh ok, thanks. If anyone has a branded at&t w760a and know the cda or have the firmware I would greatly appreciate it.
Here is your CDA: 1212-6828
Cheers!
Hi, what CDA did you use to unbrand w760a (custom pack)?
I'm using
W760_R3CA038_MAIN_GENERIC_VT_DE_RED52
W760_R3CA038_FS_AMERICA_RED52
Thanks a lot.
I'm still very much a noob and trying my best to understand the ins and out of debranding.
However, I did find a way around the restrictions to use ring tones that doesn't involve debranding. The problem isn't a KB restriction (at least in my case, I have a W760a from ROGERS). All you have to do is to DRM the MP3 tunes and your phone will happily accept them .
You can download the program here
PS here is my noob question. If you debrand a phone, can you restore the original branded firmware?
Yes you can - when you need branded phone again you just need to flash phone with branded firmware
jackrab You don't need to debrand to unlock mp3 ringtones on the w760....you need A2 Uploader and the flash drivers and a program called XML Notepad......what you do is use uploader to copy your customize.xml file to your computer so you can modify it....go into tpa/preset/custom then highlight the customize.xml file and right click....now hit "read"
this will copy it into the A2 uploader "phone out " folder....shutdown A2 for now
Next open that file with Xml notepad and use "tree view" scroll down and open the DRM folder and then the Settings folder (within the drm folder) You wiil now see stuff like "enable ringtoneplayer-mp3 " and in the right pane it should say "false" .......change that value to "True" keep going down the list changing those "false" values to "true"
*make sure to leave "enable ismi lock" value as "false" *
-after that save the file as Customize_upgrade.xml
-now fire up A2 uploader and drag and drop it back to the Tpa/preset/custom folder
-shutdown uploader and remove/reinsert the battery of your phone and start it up
There you go now you can play Full mp3 songs as ringtones....
angelyne I too have a Rogers phone and they lock the ringtones in the programming.....you can rebrand if you must but remember the Rogers CDA # so you can later.......for debranding instructions check out the Sony Ericsson Modding section of Howard Forums....alot of helpful info there........oh and write down all of your Rogers internet/sms/mms settings BEFORE you debrand because you'll have to input them manually AFTER you debrand Rogers CDA for W760A 1214-8074 R7A
IMO the debranded version is way better........Rogers locks up too much of the features (and Games) that came with the phone.........
where can i get att branded firmware?
you just need to edit Customize.xml, no need to re-brand
my TM506 has been successfully debranded with Cin Bell fw, but ALL T-Mobile settings are still intact, esp wireless village settings
Not sure if you found the answer already, look for rev R3CC005 here

and ATT custom file. They work great, I have tried. Cheers.
I will be getting a Rogers branded w760a and am considering debranding it. However in case things go wrong (or if I need to get it repaired by SE), I'd like the option of re-branding it. Do I need to get a hold of Rogers branded Main and FS Firmware files? Or can I change the CDA back to the Rogers one, then use SEUS to reflash my phone?
Can't say about Rogers. But re-branding back to AT&T's CDA does NOT work with SEUS, had to use A2uploader with AT&T's MAIN, FS, and custom files. I see Roger's FS, and custom files, but not MAIN on this site. Post back if you find them. I believe the paid services have them.
use a gernic then the Roger's FS and custom pack
Can you mix Main and FS files from different firmware revisions? For example, I found W760_R3DA028_FS_ROGERS_RED52 but there is no generic Main avail, only China. Also if I want to debrand, are most people using W760_R3EA037_MAIN_GENERIC_DE_RED52 and W760_R3EA037_FS_RUSSIA_RED52 because they are the latest firmware revisions? I think a Russia FS is okay to use because one of the languages is English. I have many many more questions are this but I think this will get the ball rolling :)
if u want to debrand it just use gernic 4 both were do u live now if its the uk for the fs /gernic or europe2 will do
Rebrand: Someone suggested using a generic MAIN + Roger's FS + Roger's custom. MAIN and FS should(must?) be the same CDA. Then use SEUS to update whatever MAIN/FS you have used to the latest Roger's version. You are successful if you can use SEUS to update, otherwise, your choice of MAIN and FS combo are probly no good.
Debrand: Avoid using A2uploader to upload MAIN and FS if you can, see this post and it's follow ups. Use CDA 1201-0095. (I can't edit that post. Otherwise I'd change the CDA's there.)
(The moderators here have a tendency to edit your posts often, like my link above was pointing to a different post which contains more detailed instructions particular to your case and the W760a. I'm not gonna change the link back, nor want to create a scene. If you still want to see my original link, just search for my posts.)

Thank you so much for your tips xyn19! I agree there is so much information and misinformation out there on this. I remember learning all this stuff for my DB2010 phone, then DB2020, and now I have to re-learn everything for A2! Luckily you have a low post count so I hopefully I can catch up easily. :)
For debranding, you say do NOT use A2uploader -- but I thought that is the only free flashing program for A2 out there? If you could tell me the post number I should look up, I assume you are referring to the thread "A2-DB3150 Flashing".
It's post #76 in that forum. Also, if you have installed SEUS (most people would), you don't need to install the flash driver(for A2uploader), because it is already included in SEUS. If you're like me, I don't like to do additional installs on my laptop. Report back how it goes. :)
Thanks man, I think I'm following you so far. So for debranding I use A2 Uploader to copy customize_upgrade.xml to my phone, which will change the CDA to 1201-0095. From what I've read this is the generic CDA for AMERICA. Then I run SEUS and it will debrand my phone for me! This is how my xml file will look:
Not sure if that Language and Model line is necessary but I grabbed it from another thread. Now if I want to rebrand to Rogers I need to find MAIN and FS for CDA 1214-8074? Or can I just use the above customize_upgrade.xml to change the CDA back to 1214-8074 and run SEUS?Code:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<customization>
<info>
<cda-number>1201-0095</cda-number>
<language-variant-name>AMERICA-VT</language-variant-name>
<model>W760i</model
</info>
</customization>
Also does debranding also unlock my phone, or will I need to run a vkp patch for that?
First part is correct! Don't need Language and Model. Don't seem to hurt either.
I don't know the CDA for Rogers, but you can find out doing the magic sequence >*<<*<* or with a2uploader's Identify, it should match the CDA in the custom files download section on this site.
It's certainly worth a try using an xml with that CDA and SEUS to REbrand. It's simple to do and quick. If Rogers is anything like AT&T, most likely it won't work. Report back if it works or not! Otherwise, you'll need a functional combo of MAIN, FS, and custom files. By "functional," I mean you can use SEUS to do further upgrades.
Unbrand has nothing to do with unlock. You either have to pay to unlock or find a free way which I have not seen, or ask Rogers to give you the unlock code. AT&T would. Report back if you find a free way to unlock. :)
I found the CDA for Rogers on howard forums (it is also in one of the download sections on this site) but I will confirm with the service menu. I don't actually have my w760a yet but it should be arriving this week, I'm just trying to learn everything I can so I'm not confused before flashing! I've also read that debranding breaks streaming video on AT&T phones and you need to change some settings... Haven't read the same yet for Rogers but will see once I get it.
As far as I can tell Rogers will not give the unlock codes out for free (unlike AT&T) -- they are just plain evil! I think I will wait for DB3150 patching to improve, hopefully then there will be a free unlock patch avail.
Also is it possible to upload your WAP and MMS settings to your phone in a preloaded_config.xml file? I know I've done that in the past with the w580i. I just hate typing in all those settings! :)
Yes, you're doing it the "right" way i have to say! A few more things that may come in handy:
- if you debrand using SEUS successfully, you don't need the youtube fix floating around because SE has included it in the latest firmwares R3EA*.
- AT&T's CV (Cingular Video) through MediaNet Portal still needs a fix to change Model from W760i to W760a. No idea about Rogers.
- I think you can upload WAP and MMS settings via some xml file. I have yet to figure out how. If you know how post back! :) I used SE's website here to send those settings OTA, and they worked fine.
I'm thinking if I can update WAP, MMS, wireless village, email settings, date/time format, camera shutter sound, key mappings, certificates, etc, through a couple of xml files. This would make future updates easier. I wonder if anyone has done this before.
Wow can you believe it, I called Rogers yesterday to order the w760a on hardware upgrade and the phone arrived by UPS less than 24 hours later! So I turned that puppy up, backed up the FS with A2 Uploader, and proceeded to debrand as per your instructions. Worked with nary a hitch! Only thing I noticed is both my Rogers branded firmware and the new debranded firmware is R3DA028. I know there is a newer one R3EA037 out there but I don't know why SEUS didn't upgrade me to that in the first place? I tried plugging it through SEUS again but it said the latest software is already installed. Here's what A2 Uploader says when I click IDENTIFY:
Also I wanted to delete the startup/shutdown images/sounds but whenever I try to, I get the error message a2_fsFileDelete err:0017. Anyone know what that means?Code:ChipID:C900,EMP protocol:0401

Wow, that was FAST!
I was using another CDA (HK) and SEUS updated mine to R3EA037. Maybe that generic America CDA didn't need an update?! One thing you can check, try streaming youtube. If you can do it, that means you have the fix already in R3DA028 and perhaps there's no furthur updates needed for that CDA.
The fix came with the update looks something like
...
<firewall-traversal-interval>15000</firewall-traversal-interval>
...
in tpa\preset\default\default.xml (not where you put custom_update.xml)
By the way, you might want to mask out your IMEI number, in case there are some bad apples out there! :D
actually Youtube does work great! However I looked at default.xml and there is no firewall line, so maybe that was just an AT&T bug? The one thing I did notice though is my menus are still lagging, it was quite pronounced on the Rogers branded firmware. I think it might be due to the new animated menus, but it's so much slower compared to my old w580i which I have sitting right next to me. I found a link to the firmware revision here and thought it might be better for me to try and get R3EA037.
Oh ya and any idea why I'm getting the error message a2_fsFileDelete err:0017 when I try to delete files in A2 Uploader?
I have that line in default.xml with customized HK CDA (not tied to any provider). I use HK so I can get the language files "for free" no extra work. :D That was from a phone dump after SEUS update but before turning on the phone. Anyhow, as long as streaming works, it's all good.
Menus are lagging on mine as well...maybe due to flash menus? Have not tried to change it to a non-flash theme, not sure if it's possible.
I was able to delete that custom file i put in from a2uploader. I have deleted other files also. Are you able to delete other files besides the startup/shutdown images?
I haven't tried to delete any others but maybe I can copy overwrite the startup/shutdown images/sounds with a blank file...
Love to hear from anyone else who got R3EA037 firmware thru SEUS with CDA 1201-0095... Maybe I should flash another customize_upgrade.xml and change my CDA to HK one like you? What other CDAs are people using for debranding?
Maybe I should just leave it well alone because right now google maps and youtube work fine on mine -- all for free! :)
Try a few CDA's, like that you found for R3EA037. If you don't need the languages, I wouldn't suggest a customized CDA. If you do want a customized, I'd suggest using one that's for to your locale.
Does Rogers provide GPS Navigation, like AT&T Navigator (by TeleNav)? That's the most useful program comes with AT&T, too bad it doesn't work after debranding. Wayfinder is cheaper at half the price but not nearly as good. But I'd prefer not carrying another GPS unit.
I guess I should have read that link I posted for R3EA037 firmware a little closer, it posted a customize_upgrade.xml to use. They are using CDA 1211-7710 which according to a list I found somewhere is W760i_1211-7710_R3A_Customized_Brazil. I wonder if it will be okay for me to use this, but why do you say avoid customized CDAs?
Rogers does come with a TeleNav program but in the few short hours I played with it before debranding, I could never get it to work. It would just keep loading and at 96% would say there was some connection problem. However google maps works fine on my debranded phone
Yea, I have read many people use the "Brazil" CDA, apparently all people say it's a generic, so definitely worth a try. If that turned out to be not what you want, you can always restore with SEUS or a2uploader.
"Avoid customized CDAs" because you get more than you want! For example, with the customized HK CDA, I got great language support, BUT it also loaded a ton of APN settings for just about every provider in HK(doesn't hurt besides taking up a little space), it also locked down a couple of shortcut keys(> and ^) though this is easy to fix, PlayNow doesn't work(will look into it later, not that important), more junk games and apps you can delete (some in foreign language). So "customized" is not original Sony. "Generic" seems to mean original Sony. It's just never perfect, isn't it!
On the GPS thing, sounds like Rogers didn't get it right with Navigator, AT&T's versoin is quite solid, used it for a month and it was great, very few screw ups. (For people still on AT&T Navigator, please check and download the latest version from TeleNav website, not MediaMall). I've bugged TeleNav to support W760i, other people reading this, please also call/email TeleNav to support generic W760i ASAP! Hate to say it, but TeleNav is just a lot better than Wayfinder IMOH. :) BTW, they are very listening! TeleNav - Contact Us
I debranded my Rogers W760i some time ago. I didn't really care at the time, about internet access, and I had it blocked. But I've decided to start using my phone to access the net, mostly because I want to use Google maps.
So I managed to get the internet working and checked my bill (I have pay-as-you-go) and I was charged almost 4$ for accessing google map and 0.75$ for going to the google home page! ouch!
I think i'm being overcharged because I am not using the correct portal maybe? Anyway, I'd like to restore all the original Rogers settings for internet access to my phone. Luckily, I have kept a backup of the phone before unbranding, so I have my original customize.xml file. Can I copy the relevant sections and upload them to my phone? Using customize_upgrade.xml or something?
Sony can send you the settings over the air (for free I think) HERE. Use W760i if debranded.
I've tried this before and tried it again today, but I never receive the message on my phone
Sorry to hear that, maybe Rogers blocked it somehow? They should give you a break down of the charges, like $ per kB etc. You can check their math that way. Consider an unlimited data plan.
i can get an unlimited plan, but I think I need to access the net through their portal to use it.
Also you mentionned that you managed to rebrand your phone, but you have to be careful which files you pick. Which ones did you pick?
AT&T's. There's only one R3CC005, no confusion! :)
angelyne: yes for some reason the SE website doesn't work for sending settings to Rogers phones, it's been broken for years now but I have no idea why! I've posted working settings over on HowardForums, check here.
Since the W760 is not considered a smartphone, we qualify for the $7 unlimited data plan. It is supposed to be limited to the Rogers branded browser only, but if you use the settings above you should not be charged for using 3rd party applications such as Opera Mini. I had a debranded W580i for almost a year and never got charged overages, so far I've used lots of Google Maps, Gmail, and Opear Mini on my W760i so I'll have to see if I get charged for it or not.
I have also successfully rebranded my phone back to Rogers firmware by flashing a customize_upgrade.xml file to change the CDA back to 1214-8074. Unlike the AT&T phones, that's all you need to do to go back to Rogers firmware, so far at least. Just copy this file over to tpa/preset/custom using A2 Uploader, boot up your phone, then plug it in to SEUS to reflash back to Rogers firmware. Here's the code I used:
Code:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<customization>
<info>
<cda-number>1214-8074</cda-number>
<cda-revision>R7A</cda-revision>
</info>
</customization>
Re-branding doesn't seem to be working for me. I tried this exact procedure yesterday and it appeared to work correctly, but after the update nothing was changed. I did neglect to turn on the phone between steps to apply the customize_upgrade file. When I tried it again today, I was informed by Seus that no update was available I suspect that this trick of ours only work if there is an actual update from Seus. Anyway, I am not that disappointed not to rebrand it cause I HATED the branded version.
As a side note, I actually managed to import the internet settings by using the relevant bits from my old branded customize.xml into a new customize_upgrade.xml.
My problem is that something is missing. If i use the go rogers (internet.com) profile, that works fine, but I get charged through the nose. The goam does not appear to work. Can you tell me WHICH profile and which portal you are actually using in order to benefit from the 7$ unlimited browsing.
