JAVA phones can't infect with viruses ;)
I agree with cavior, because do not exists computer like (self copier, self modifier) viruses for non smartphones. But there are a few, some sort of malware java applications for 'normal' phones. And you MUST install and start it to 'infect' your phone, cannot copy itself from phone to phone...Quote:

Ex. RedBrowser.A - this is a kind of troian horse. It is written for J2ME enabled phones, and promise free wap/internet access if you let the program to send one SMS, but in reality it will send a lot of SMS, and of course you do not get any internet access...Quote:

No need the master reset. Just delete it like an ordinary application.Quote:

If you don't allow the unknown applications to send SMS, MMS, etc. then the problem solved. But in case you applied the remove_java_retrictions patch on your phone then these malwares can do anything like a signed application, and for sure can make your bill enormous...
hi. most of viruses that we know of are aimed at nokia smartphones.
they have file extension ".sis". some phones can send this to other phones automatically but luckily, most phones you have to accept the incoming.
AFAIK if you accept it, you are it's host & it can send itself out via bluetooth or wifi to other phones.
don't accept .sis files!
(they can have random names but end in .sis).
No.
Nice day
no, and also if you accept virus with .sis, its ok, it wont infect your phone(nor do it will send itself into another phone) because your phone can't read the file .sis
only new firmware worked for my friend
my friend still has (and i had) some virus. possibly from a comp. it creates an exe in each folder, the exe is named by the folder it's in. i had that on every removlable memory like usb flash, camera and phone ms duo. i solved my problem by using an antivirus, it was some trojan horse. anyway i think it can't hurt his phone but it can hurt computers he connects his phone to, right?
Yes, you are absolutely right. My advice is, install an antivirus software to computer(s), update the virus database, DISCONNECT(unplug the cable) any network connection (Internet/Intranet) to stop the malware spreading, and do a full scan with removable drives(usb stick, camera, etc.) attached.
