can any body help me please please please. i have got the w810i and when i put my sim in all it says is ( please insert the corect sim card ) my phone is locked to orange uk, i used xs.. to change the gdfs file from one w810i on o2 to my phone on orange uk.
i was told it will unlock the phone????. or is it for the bin now.

if i want to flash a new firmware to my phone, do i have to use an all new custom back and main too? i just dont want to lose all of my ringtones and pictures becuase it takes a while to put em back on and fix all my settings again?
if you just flash the main all of that will stay.
if you flash the file system that will all be erased.

no you don't HAVE to update the FS and custpack if you are just going from a generic FW to a newer generic FW. I would recommend it but you don't have to.
The only time you will need to "customize" is if you flash the file system.. If you just flash the main firmware the FS stays un changed.
If you want to change the language you are going to have to flash all 3 things. MAIN,FS,and then customize w/ a pack that matches that FS.

Well...not really.
You can have different MAIN and FS versions but it's not indicated because it can cause bugs.
To change the firmware version, it's recommended to do a full flash. That means MAIN + FS + custompack.
dang....so theres no way to keep all the stuff on my phone after doing a full flash?
No , like others written you must if you wan`t to change language or go to a new version make a full flash. You can only download all files from phone to pc ( pictures, mp3 ... ) and then copy them back when you made a full flash.
