Dear Mohdumer,

I updated my P1i to R6F41 (via SE update service). From then on, I could not make call in areas having weak network signal. I wish to flash P1i back to R6E30. I have downloaded R6E30 firmware of Russia (I have no choice since I have no privilege to download the desired firmware from this Topsony site). I unzipped and got many files:

I do not know how to flash my P1i. Could you please comment

How to backup my current firmware ???
Could you guide me how to backup my current firmware (just in case of fail with new firmware then I could flash it back as your guide at item *) since when I backup my GDFS I got one file .BIN (35 KB). I do think this file is just GDFS but not including firmware.

Starting With Your Last Question, Your GDFS Doesnt Contains Firmware. However Your Firmware Is A Set Of Main+FS. Check The Files You Have For A *.mbn File Which Will Be Your Main And Then A *.fbn File Which Will Be Your FS (Depending Upon Your Region). Then You Need A Custom Pack Which Depend Upon Your FS. Match A Custompack With Your FS Using This Link. Thats All. Follow The GUIDE For Rest.

Thanks for this post, very clear and consise instructions. I have a K800i and everything on the phone was flashed as per the instructions without problems but my phone still remains locked to 3 only.

Can anyone advise what procedure to take from here to unlock the phone.

DEEPRISER: Go To Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Data Communication>SMS Access> And See If Circuit switched Is Selected. If Its Not, Selecting Will Solve Your Problem. If It Is Selected, Then You Need To Check The Gateway Number In SMS Settings.

RAZTAZ: Flashing Will The New Firmware Will Debrand Your Phone. In Order To Unlock, You Need To Use A Patch. Use Simox Sim-Lock Patch Generator. Visit The Link For Tool And Instructions: Remove SIM-lock patch generator - Top Sony Forums

ahlock: I Dont Get What Is "HP". However Talking In General Flashing With Normal (Non-Branded) Firmware Debrands The Phone But Doesnt Unlocks It. To Unlock You Need To Patch.

cause all i want to do is upload acustics and i seems a bit to much to upgrade firmware etc just because i wanna upload something small as that .

ronbo: Extracting Here Means Extracting The Main (*.mbn) And FS (*.fbn) From The Rar File You Download. You May Use WinRar To Do So.

stathis28: Sorry But For Now XS++ Doesnt Supports. Although It Will Detect Your K850i But Wont Do Anything To It i.e Flashing, Customizing etc. The Newer Version Should Support It But Theres No Info On Its Releasing Date.

djvaggelis: XS++ Detects It All. Open Xs++, Press Connect, Connect Your Phone As Prescribed And You'll See All Info On Left Pane i.e EROM, Firmware, Cid, Languages, FS etc. Since Your Phone Screen Is Upside Down So SEUS Wont Fix This Problem. You'll Need To REFLASH Your Phone. You May Use This Tutorial To Do So.

It Was Once A Case With My Sisters W300i. Although You'll Solve Your Problem By Just Flashing Main And Flashing Your Main Wont Wipe Out Your Settings Too But I Would Recommend To Completely REFLASH Your Phone.

Thanks for the guide! I'm terribly nervous about flashing my new K810i. I updated via SEUS yesterday so, theoretically, it's CID 52 (which I understand is the way to go). Now, it came factory unlocked and unbranded but it has the MEDITERR custom pack. I want to switch that to the EUROPE_1 pack.

I have these files:
K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED52
K810-R8BA024-FS-EUROPE-1-RED52
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_10_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_1

2 questions:
1. Are these the correct files for a complete re-flash of my phone?
2. Is there any way to just sub out the languages in the MEDITERR pack for the ones in the EUROPE_1 pack WITHOUT FLASHING?

I'm extremely paranoid about killing my phone but I need to have Spanish and French on it. Any help (or reassurance :-) ) is appreciated.

Thanks! Next question: how do I add languages without flashing? (I'm sure that's a dumb question, but I haven't been able to find a guide that I understand.)

EDIT: Couple more questions:
1. Can I use the SE Update Service to recover from a bad flash?
2. When flashing, how long do I need to hold the "C" button down?

Ans2>No, You Can't Use SEUS To Recover From A BadFlash. Read The Last Section Of The Tutorial, "Recovering From A Bad Flash"
Ans3>You Need To Keep The "c" Button Pressed Until Your Phone Gets Detected By XS++. (Usually Take A Second)

a123456789: No, After Using FAR Its Not At All Required To Flash Your Main. If You Want A Guide On FAR, See This. XS++ 3.1 Is Currently Latest. The 3.2 Version Is Just A Beta Which May Destroy Your Phone So Dont Use It. However, I Dont Think That XS++ Will Ever Support Two Way.

is it first we need to connect phone using xs++,then through there only know which firmware file to use, and then only can go the far and flash drive steps after flashing the phone?

No, Its Not Like That. You May Use XS++ To Detect, Select Firmware, Flash And Customize. Same Goes For FAR. However FAR Is Mainly Used For Customizing Phone Like Replacing The CamDriver, Acoustics etc But XS++ Can Also Do It.

Flashing to 3 UK

Flashing side works as described.

The problem I'm having is selecting the correct Main and FS files to support the 3 UK CDA.

Anybody know which files I need.

I have successfully flashed my brand new vodafone branded w880i, unfortunately the buttons are behaving a little weird. The top left button on the keypad displays an option to go to something called "ticker" but when I press the button nothing happens at all. Any advice?

I can make and receive calls, everything seems properly debranded (yay!:)) -- can you please advice/help me with the following:
1. Did I use the most ideal files for flashing? If not please please tell me which are the most ideal files to be using for the latest firmwares and generic UK debranding?
2. How can I resolve this button behaviour (described above), is there a file I can manually edit to map the buttons?
3. Is there anything else that I've done wrong or could do in a better way?
