1) Yes, it should flash your phone to the latest generic America firmware. I have not tried those particular 2 CDA's in my original post but I have read other people have done it successfully. I know the generic Hong Kong CDA worked perfectly.
2) To re-brand it back to ATT, you need to download ATT/Cingular MAIN, FS, and the custom file, and use a2uploader to flash, then copy custom files. SEUS does NOT do it (at least to go from HK generic to ATT).
3) You can set up phone via bluetooth to use your computer's internet access. Computer needs to be running Windows XP (Vista and Mac might work), and needs to be in Workgroup mode, i.e. not setup to connect to a Windows Domain. (Another thread or google it.)
4) Yes, you can use data from ATT with de-branded phones. Make sure you have a correct data plan, or they'll charge you per kB or something like that. You need to get network settings right. (Another thread.)
5) Yes, you can use GPS. I know the following versions of GPS all work!! -- Built-in Google Map, downloaded Google Map(sometimes has connection issues, but I have a workaround), Amaze GPS, Mobile Gmaps. I have not tried Wayfinder, I bet it works too. However, ATT Navigator does NOT work on generic phones, Telenav (who makes ATT Navigator) has not a version for most generic phones. (Another thread.)

I had built it up in my head as much tougher than it really ended up being. Thank you everyone, all worked perfectly. I now have a former ATT USA phone that is generic USA latest SUSE firmware.

Time to hunt down some good themes and stuff. And I may be back with more questions in other threads.

Hi Guys, when attempting to change from C905 UK generic 1214 7311 back to 3 UK 1212 9623, I receive update not available in SEUS. What am I missing? I also get the same message if attempting to load UK Vodafone 1215-6920.

Just to add that I was able to change my C905 from Vodafone to 3 Uk and then to Uk generic before I had the issue of not been able to change back. I used the below instructions/method....



It's actually pretty easy. You need three things:

1. A2 Uploader
2. A2 Uploader CDA Generator
3. SEUS

Okay, once you've got these three things you need to generate a CDA for your C905. You do this by going into the CDA file generator and selecting the C905, then typing in the CDA you want to use. You can find lots of CDAs in this thread that will work better. "Generic UK" is probably your best bet at the moment.
So, once you've generated the file, it's going to be saved in the folder you have the CDA Generator program saved in. The file will be called "customized_upgrade.xml". The next step is that you want to actually change the CDA on the phone. To do this, we need to open up A2 Uploader. Once open, click on FILE SYSTEM at the right side. The program will now ask you to connect your phone in the same way SEUS asks; turned off, hold down 'c' and insert the USB. The file system will now load up.
In the A2 Uploader window navigate to "tpa/preset/custom", and then drag and drop the "customized_upgrade.xml" file across to this window. Once you see the file saved in this window, then you can go to SHUTDOWN FILE SYSTEM at the bottom in red. You can then disconnect your phone.
Turn the phone on, and wait for the "please wait" message to fire across. Once completed the CDA is now changed and you can disconnect the phone.
Now connect to SEUS and update as normal. Note that beside C905 at the top it should say the new CDA. Do an update and you will have all the features/(lack of) branding that the firmware you have chosen has.

This isn't really too complicated, having done it a few times I can fire through the process in under 5 minutes. There isn't any risk to your phone either, as if it messes up, you can simply do it again.

Just pause your antivirus, or add it to exceptions , like @Seamonkey said 2 posts above.

I went to Davinci to rebrand my c905 to O2 firmware that supported all the features in SE's latest firmware update. After a few days using this, I decided to use A2 and the CDA generator to change to the generic firmware. O2 was solid but I didn't like the branding icons on the main menu. I changed the CDA and put T-mobile-UK and it was even worse, but cannot go back even after trying many of the CDAs in the database. SE keeps informing that I have the latest update. My only conclusion is that I have updated across all the regions that are available and I can only downgrade to resolve this.

Any suggestions?

I have the C905 and plan on flashing soon. This model isn't even available in America for another several months, but there's "American" FS and Custom Packs for it. I'm just curious if anyone has tried these, and if there's any limitations.

I just want a firmware that is either UK/English, preferably with little or no branding and is stable with all the latest SE features that were delivered in the latest update.

What does the custom pack do exactly. I've already debranded my phone using the SEUS method. Would applying a custom pack be worthwhile? Would it restore provider-specific settings?

If you've used SEUS to debrand, don't use the custom files! They're only used together with MAIN and FS burned with a2uploader.

Every info is very new to me. So if you'd help me to debrand my w760a, I would greatly appreciate it.

First of all, I am using AT&T branded phone right now, and I would like to debrand to Taiwan CDA (1207-3657). I don't know the difference between Hong Kong(1207-7195) which you debranded and this Taiwan(1207-3657). The bottom line is that I want to read Japanese. Some people mentioned on the web that if the phone has Chinese font, then that phone is good for reading Japanese too:).

Anyway, according to your post #76, all I have to download and install are A2uploader, flashdriver, and SEUS. Then make a "customize_upgrade.xml" by copy and past on the #76 and changing "<cda-number>1207-3657</cda-number>".
Then, follow the instraction you provided.

Is my understanding correct?
or, do I need to purchase "custompack w760i 1207-3657 R4A customized Taiwan" from Top Sony Forums? In this case, I have no idea how I should use this files.

I debranded my ATT w760a to generic firm. So far so good.
But there's only one thing I miss... That is "Mobile Email" comes with ATT firm ware. Because it gives me a free SMS alert from ATT when I receive new email in MSN, hotmail, yahoo mail account. Does anybody know where to get this application?

One more thing, after I debanded I can't send SMS from my phone:(

SMS should be setup automatically. You might need to get a new SIM card (free) from AT&T if it's more than 6 months old. I was having problems with dropped calls on my old branded phone. I called 611, they told me I should try a new SIM and they had noted that on my account. I went to an AT&T store and told them about that. They put the new SIM on my account and off I went. The new SIM works in all my AT&T phones. However the dropped call issue is still there, I think it's just their "less than" Verizon network.

Depending on your email account, I tried Yahoo on the debranded, it sets itself up automatically and works great. You can even set the interval it checks for new email. After you enter your yahoo email, a message pops up asking you if you want to download settings, choose yes and it sets up the account on your phone automatically, and it's IMAP! I don't know if you really need the original email client, but if you do, rebrand your phone.

Hmmmm... My SMS seemed to be working today. I didn't change any setting since yesterday:confused: I guess it's just like your "dropping calls" problem. Maybe I can do nothing with it. But if this happens again and annoys me a lot, I will call customer support,611.

I don't want to rebrand my phone just because for Windows mail! No way! Debranded phone is way better than used to be, even it doesn't give me free alerts. My primary email account is msn mail that's why the alert is a pretty magnet to me, but, well..., I guess I'll get some yahoo or gmail account which supports pushmail.

ou need to get three files from download section:[/LIST]

• A "MAIN" File
• A "FS" file
• A custom pack file

You can use something like W910_R1FA035_MAIN_GENERIC_SH_RED52 for the MAIN file and choose the most relavant FS file for you from the download section here:

So if you're in western europe, you may wish to use W910_R1FA035_FS_WESTERN-EUROPE_RED52

Then all you need is the custom files: this is essentially a bunch of configuration files which you can get from: Top Sony Forums

Then simply follow the instructions right at the start of the thread. You can download the latest version of A2 Uploader from: 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download A2 Uploader V3.zip. The archive contains A2 Uploader.exe and ggsetup-2.2.0.1.exe. You'll need to install ggsetup-2.2.0.1.exe before running A2 Uploader.

I've purchased an W595,great phone. But now I have a problem, I read on the box and documentation, that there is coming TRACK-ID with it,but I can use this only via my Radio-stations,so when I'm listening to a radio station I can use it, but not when I want to recording a song,So in the Entertainment menu,there should be a TrackID-option,but nothing's there?

I think it is the MAIN file,the menu is not correct,there is no Track-ID option in the Entertainment-Menu? And before the Entertainment-Menu was in the Left Corner at the bottom,now the Entertainment-Menu is standing in the Upper Right Corner?!

Have you tried using SEUS to update your phone (use a2uploader to change CDA first)? This greatly reduces issues with mismatched MAIN/FS/custom files which can lead to issues similar to that.

I'll try that,I'll post you the results.
