You can update it with SEUS, but I don't think it will unbrand it:S
if your phone "breaks," more likly your provider will not be able to turn it on and there by not knowing your phone has been unlocked/flashed.
Of course it void ur warranty if unlock it.

You can get unlock phone from other store, sometimes in few phone service.
