Bluetooth on, light useage, brightness at 60%. Battery went from 100% to 90% in just over 4 hours, which is the same consumption rate that I saw under R8BE. I am going to give it a few more days and then I will take a crack at an R6 firmware. Like I said before, this SEEMS like a higher consumption that the R7 (at&t branded) firmware, but I am trying to test this and control all the variables.

Your phone has oddly high consumption.
You may want to charge your battery to full and until battery runs out, then charge to full again.

The only 2 negatives I have noticed are:
1) the volume slider during standby yields phone status now (known issue)
2) phone now seems to chew up the battery much faster
The "screen saver" is not active, and I have been running the same bluetooth acc the whole time.
I may back off to R6 as well, to see if this clears up.
What file did you use for your MAIN when you flashed to R8BE001, the W580_R8BE001_MAIN_NAM_1_LA_RED52 or W580_R8BE001_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52?

I used the MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52. I have tried both the MAIN_GENERIC for both the R8BE001 and the R8BA024.

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
Any idea when the next firmware update for w580 will be out? Been waiting forever...
-
Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
EVen if there would be a new one I would stay with R8BA024, it has the most patches untill now (R6 has a loot too), and most importantly: IT HAS ELFS! :D

argg need update on light bug

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
There is no light bug on my w580i. I have R8BE001. I wounder what the problem is that makes it work and not work for other people.

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
You are correct, this is unusual.
I was able to restore some of it by a full discharge cycle. It began to occur after an extended FM radio session through the phone speaker in the garage. I don't know if the battery got hot and freaked out or what.
So it seems like my firmware battery consumption issue is moot, and not tied to the firmware upgrade.

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
when i upgrade the firmware, do i have to upgrade the FS and custpack as well? And does this mean i have to reapply the unlock patch for the phone? I'm currently using S500i with w580 firmware, R6BC002

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
Upgrading the firmware via sony ericsson update service does not delete anything. BUT if you reflash your phone with an upgraded firmware then it will delete everything on your phone.

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
what software supports cid53?
-
Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
Right now, there's no CID 53 firmware for download.
-
Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
Try flashing it again with the R8BE001 firmware.

There is no light bug? Either the CID 53 version fixes things or you are using a flash theme. There is a light bug

Re: New Firmware for W580, R8BE001
Could someone confirm whether or not light bug exists on CID 53 version?

Why do you want CID53? There aren't many programs out that support CID53, with the exception of JD Flasher I think.

Hey Geo, long time no see. I dont really want to go CID53. I was just wondering if for some crazy reason there was no light bug on the CID53 version. I guess I'll just have to give up and use flash themes, everyone thinks they're great anyways.
Have you had any luck getting around the bug? BTW, what firmware are you running on ur w580 these days?
